Iv a red light covering half the circle was told it had overheated ,switched it off for a few hours red light is still on is this fixable or has it died
Its deffo fixable i had it on mine but lucky for me i hadnt had the thing long (bought preowned at gamestation) and they just replaced it . Have you tried hoovering any dust and shite out of the vents ? I know for the red ring of death thing you can send the console off to microsoft free of charge and you normaly get a new (refurbed) console in return .
All in all ive took 4 back to gamestation cos of errors and thats since october last year .Then had a cnut of a job getting all the games back off xbox that ive downloaded .
fixed my first 4 red rings of death today on my mates - out of warranty so no harm if i couldn't pull it off. Pulled it all apart into 50 pieces - had to scrape the old thermal bond failure off both processors and then polish till shiny with rubbing alcohol - then apply new thermal bond to both processors and screw it all back together - upgrade the firmware via USB in the back - then press in the wireless connect button on the console at the same time as holding the on switch until you see the dashboard - then bobs ya uncle...works. This will clear error numbers 74 and 71 that i had and the holding the wireless button at the same time as the on button clears the firmware upgrades in backlog - so essentially it resets itself then uses the latest firmware that was on your USB...
