Watching football streams on't Iphone/Ipod touch

Few ways I've come across thanks to the lovely members of this site. Worth sticking in one thread.

Ustream and TVU:

These two are apps which are free and available via the app store. To play the channels you search for the channel in the channel list. However, Geo restrictions still appear to apply on TVU and Ustream doesn't have all the channels available on the version you have on you computer.

Orb.

Little bit more complicated but potentially better. This allows you to re-stream something from your PC to your phone. E.g. You can play a sopcast stream on your PC and redirect it to your phone.

The original version of this guide is here, I've modified it slightly.

Things you will need:

* Sopcast
* An iPhone or iPod Touch running firmware 2.0 or higher.
* A PC running Orb
* The Orblive app for the iPhone/iTouch

Setting Up the PC side:

Install sopcast and orb on your PC, both are free.

Once you have both sopcast and orb set up on your PC (you need to create an orb account, not needed for sopcast) you'll need to add sopcast's local stream address to orb.

Go to your orb account on the web at http://mycast.orb.com log in with your orb ID and password and go to settings in the top right hand corner.

Log into orb then click onto the control panel:



In the control panel, click here:



and choose add an internet webcam



Now where it says "add an internet webcam" put

Name: Sopcast
URL: http://127.0.0.1:8902

And then click "add"

Launch sopcast on your PC and choose a channel.

Your PC is now set up to stream sopcast to orb and thus any PC on the internet. The hard bit is now done. You just need to set up your iPhone/iPod Touch to access it.

Now I've noted that guide suggests you buy the orb live app from the app store.... Not needed. It can be easily found and installed from most torrent sites such as here.

Log in using the same username and ID as the PC application.

Then choose webcams:



The stream from your PC entitled "Sopcast" should appear on the list



and..lo and behold..football:



The arse is that you can only watch what's been previously choosen on your PC. The good thing is it can be used to stream most media from your computer to your phone.

Give it a bash when you're bored Gramps and let me know if it works for you. If OAPs can follow that guide, I may need to make it less simple.....to confuse them
