University fees
I feel that there is already enough money in the system to give a free university education to those that are capable.

The problem is that Labour dramatically increased the number of people going to university. Unfortunately, most of those going aren't academically capable. They are doing 'dodgy degrees' that can't prepare them for a job in the real world.

As a cynic, I feel that Labour's reason was to keep the dole figures amongst the young down. Let's face it. Most of them would have been signing on.

The Tories are taking this a step further. They are charging today's young people with future debt for going to university. In the main, if the young weren't going to university, they'd be drawing the dole. If they do well in life, they pay back more than it would have cost to keep them on the dole. If they don't do well, no loss, it's still a similar cost to supporting them on benefits. It's a win-win situation for the government.

I think by the time that the tories are out of power there will be a bigger class divide than before.

With the tax credit system being messed about it could end up with some people having to move out of the city back to the outskirts of places like Brixton, Hammersmith etc, basically cheaper housing, leaving it all for the rich. Now they are planning that Universities will only be available for the rich as well with the rising cost of tuition fees.

But what I find best of all is that the lib dems wanted to scrap tuition fees altogether and now they are sitting back and allowing this to happen. I'm so glad I didn't waste my vote on them.
