TVU Player
TVU

This is another quality Chinese P2P streamer, but this one's in English! It uses an included VLC player to stream low bitrate streams at good quality. This is a recommended program for those on a 512K internet connection.

Quote:
The TVU service will premiere later this year. This new service will provide a user experience directly comparable to cable and satellite. It will feature hard-to-find special-interest TV channels, international sports, lifestyle, news, and your favorite channels from around the globe as well as user-generated content.
Unlike the typical video on your PC or IP-based TV efforts undertaken so far, TVU will offer a "TV" like experience on your PC. The video quality will be equal to or better than typical digital cable channels and you will be able to switch between multiple TV channels just like on a TV.

Mislabeled channel
FYI, a porn movie is currently being shown on a channel labeled WWETV on TVU. The is the first time I went to a channel that wasn't what it was supposed to be.

TVU Player has caught media attention over the fact that it streams regular TV channels over the internet without permission.

Paul Shen, the CEO of TVU Networks, the China based software company behind TVU Player based in Shanghai China, was interviewed by CNET. Last month the company did not respond to interview requests from CNET.

Although the company claims to be based in China, Paul Shen is actually living and working in Northern California.

Many are wondering about the legal aspects of Shen's P2P software since it transmits TV shows, pay per view broadcasts from TV stations all over the world.

It appears some content owners are already aware of the site and wondering what action to take. Copyright experts already believe that unless TVU Networks has permission to broadcast the channels, then it is illegal.

Paul Shen argues that it is responsibility of the users of the software for what they upload, although he admits his technology allows them to broadcast the TV stations and many of the TV stations belong to others. It is the users of the software, not the company itself, that are broadcasting this copyrighted content over the internet.

Whether TVUNetworks is protected by safe harbor laws given the high rate of copyrighted content that the company is aware of is very questionable.

Paul Shen also states that his software is merely a way to demonstrate the technology and it offers something very beneficial to TV networks allowing them to broadcast stations over the web easily and cheaply, and even integrate region sensitive advertisements.

If the channel is not there. It's offline. It could reappear before the match. Channels come & go all the time on TVU, but ESPN2 is there more often than not.

Why not watch the match on 'ESPN (Asia)' with proper commentary?

Load the stream into your player of choice with the localhost url given in the 1st post.

Or if that keeps cutting out on you, just resize your browser or whatever program you're using along with it.

Cannot Get TVU Player to work
I am a newbie at Internet TV

I have downloaded TVU Player and after I install it it tells me I have no internet connection and cannot watch channels. The forum on TVU's web site just displays gobbledegook. As you can see I do have an internet connection. I can get some TVU channels on their website using IE but not reliably. SopCast and a few other apps are working fine but not TVU Player. It looks a good one in the write ups, can anyone help please?

I am running on my Laptop using XP and a Vodafone Broadband 3G Card at 1.8Mbps
