beware tvants and pcast are dropping viruses onto the users pc which i am told are hard to remove. like you lot i couldnt get mine to work after a reconfigure of the hard drive and i am not going to run without a firewall and antivirus..... am i cynical or did it get planned that way to access as many pcs as poss.. please read the following for more info...
quote from somewhere else. thanks to linnets
- check your running processes - ctrl+shift+esc will bring up the task manager then choose processes. If you have a IEXPL0RE.exe (note the 0 not /) running then you have the virus. Thats just one process but it adds files all over the place on your system and gives you all sorts of funny occurences.

Hmm having the same problem (posted somewhere can’t remember now) when it comes up about windows media player message http, and that. i have installed the codec’s thing and i want to try that theory of renaming the folder thing but would i have to take this codec’s thing off before doing the renaming thing or?

I have both TvAnts & Pcast. No problems here.
The only time I ever see iexplore.exe is on the odd occasion I use Internet Explorer.

I'm giving up with this software after getting several weird .exe files added after installation, that cannot be removed.

The channel with the match you want to watch that works well for you.
My favourite channel on TvRats has to be a toss up between ULF & SSC. Top quality, decent bitrate.

You'll need to add DRM to it.
I'm sure someone will assist you more if you let them know the password(s).

 Heh heh.
It wasn't actually for me, but someone else. He was mucking around and got a pretty good stream going on TVAnts, but he's in the UK and a bit worried about getting busted for it. I'm trying to hassle him into doing a stream of the cricket, so I thought a password might reassure him a bit and make it more likely that I'll get to see some of the ashes.
God knows why I want to watch us get annihilated like!?!

guys...
i too have been getting this stupid message when using tvant,
the one about
"failed to open channel with internal player,
try system default player (which is wm9)
caused by tcp limit..( ive done the patch, now set at 10)"
then it says cant open wm ,protocol rubbish
just want to add, been watching tv footy streams for a long time, its just that this is first time back after a full install.
thing is i cant remember having these problems when i set it up originally.
so guys, ive tried the folder rename,
basically i have had it all afternoon.
trying to watch the leeds/derby match...
so anybody got any idea what to do.......using win xp sp2 btw.
any help appreciated.

i have the same problem Toz. According to netlimiter TvAnts is downloading @ @150kb/sec, so i'm receiving all of the data but it's just not appearing.
i was pulling my hair out this afternoon trying to run the man utd game
EDIT: After googling around, it seems WMP11 is usually the cause of this problem, if you (like me) have installed it, then goto add/remove programs and roll back to WMP 10. Hopefully it'll sort it out
I'm not too sure if it works yet ...haven't rebooted ;]

Not used TVAnts in ages (Sopcast and TVU for me), installed a new version, and now get random popups, chinese browser bars, etc. This ain't on! Of course clicking the button with the number counting down might be the reason - but I only know swearing in Cantonese
