[QUOTE=stevenlatham01;1447]I have been having a problem with TVANTS and have solved it by renaming the windows media player networking information folder. I tried every other suggestion on this site so not sure if you need to do some of those things as well. I have also gone back to windows media player 9 but I would try the following on 10 first:

Steve Latham,
Unbelievably, IT WORKS you beautiful bastard. Thanks so much. I hope all the other people with similar problems achieve the same results as me.
Thanks again, Ivinsky

Happy to help!
Do you know if it works on WMP 10? I went back to version 9 because someone said that might fix the problem.

Why do I get error C00D11BB when I try to stream content?
Error message: "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the specified protocol is not supported. If you typed a URL in the Open URL dialog box, try using a different transport protocol (for example, "http:" or "rtsp:")."
Windows Media Player can't play the file because the specified protocol is either not supported by the Player or not supported by the server.
You can rename the networking information folder for the Player so that it can rebuild its networking information files after you restart it.
To rename the Player networking information folder
1.
Close Windows Media Player. (To do this, on the File menu, click Exit.)
2.
Click Start, and then click Run.
3.
In the Run dialog box, type the following (exactly as shown):
%UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Media
This step opens the following folder on your computer:
SystemDrive:\Documents and Settings\UserProfileName\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Media
4.
In this folder, rename the folder 10.0 to 10.0.bak.
5.
Start the Player and start a new stream from tvants.
That's it. Let me know if this works.
Thanks mate - I've been struggling with this problem for a couple of months - trawled the net and tried everything - you're a star !!!

I'm hoping the TvAnts player is fixed soon to work with Windows Media Player 11. I've installed Windows Media Player 11 and I like it, I don't really want to go back to Windows Media Player 10

Arggh... I've done everything suggested (changed TCP connecton limit and renaming WMP folder), but TVAnts still doesn't work!
It buffers to 99%, but just can't play. Then, it gives me the error about the TCP count limit.
I go to Windows Media Player, but it says that a network error occured...
I've turned off my firewall but don't know what to do... Please help!
PS: I've tried ppmate too but it doesn't work either

Having trouble also. Had to re-install and everything o.k. except that when I go into search It comes up with 'No channel exists in the list.' Any help appreciated.

Well then you will need to wait for micro$hit to release a chinese version.

I'm using WMP11 with TvAnts and that Russian stream yeterday was pretty damn good.
I have installed the Chinese WMP9 codecs though. You can get them here

There is a Chinese version of Windows Media Player 11 in both Simplified and Traditional. I never had a Chinese version of WMP10 though and that worked with TvAnts.

That would be because the app is optimised to work with for 9 and 10.
Personally i´d prefer if they would let it work with VLC instead, then there wouldnt be all these problems.

Oliver - I think Raff meant we'd need to wait for the Chinese version of WMP11 so that the (Chinese) TVAnts developers are able to update it for the program.
Thanks for the tip about the codecs, Fractured, I'm going to check those out right now...

Maybe I should send the TVAnts team the links to the two WMP11 Chinese versions
Seriously though, it needs fixing fast because more and more people are moving to WMP11, and excluding WMP11 users is going to affect the total number of available peers on the network.

Maybe you should write to Microshit instead and ask why wmp11 does not support the mmst protocol and the reasons behind they have dropped it?
Another thing, if you look around the forum you might notice a lack of "wmp11 does not work with this or that" posts, perhaps thats because the majority are wise enough to realise that when apps say "recommended with wmp 9 or 10" they mean it and theres a good chance it wont work using anything else. Its one of the problems of early adopters like yourself are likely to encounter. Same thing will happen when vista is released.

Well PPStream, Sopcast, TVUPlayer and PPMate all seem to work ok with WMP11; I haven't had a situation recently where a match I've wanted to see hasn't been on one of these four. PPLive and TvAnts are the two applications which seem to be broken. So, for now at least, I'll be sticking it out with WMP11, because it isn't causing me to miss any football.

Yeah. To be honest I wouldn't have noticed if it weren't for the fact that TVAnts is the only app. that (always) has CCTV Soccer on it, and CCTV Soccer is nearly always the channel with the weekend's Argentine league games (ocassionally they're on CCTV 5 instead but that seems to have been happening less frequently as the championship's gone on). To be honest the streaming quality of it on a Sunday night is so crap anyway that not having it doesn't really make a difference, but it'd still be nice if it was at least an option again.
Still, PPMate and a few others are updated for it now, so I'm not complaining. I'll be able to watch the review of the year's league action when I'm in Buenos Aires in a few weeks anyway!
