TVAnts
TVAnts has the most channels out of any P2P streaming program (usually over 500!). The program is mostly in English so it's easy to understand. Use the Search tab to find channels or use the tvants.com channel list or click a link provided on FSi.

Extra trackers:

www2.tvants.com
tracker2.tvants.com
tracker3.tvants.com
hive.tobroadcast.com
Add these trackers to receive more channels by clicking the Servers tab, then Add, add one address to Name & Address, then OK.
Problems:
TvAnts recommend you have Windows Media Player 10 before installing or using this program. If you do not have WMP10, you have no reason to complain if channels don't work. If you have WMP9, upgrade to WMP10. If you have WMP11, rollback your player and runtime environment tp WMP10.
Also try installing the Chinese WM9 codecs.
All the required info is available in the WMP thread

TV Ants 1.0.0.58 Build 0729 is the latest release, available for download here.

I've tried the patch available on this site which is supposedly able to prevent the error message received when playing back TVAnts (which hasn't worked for me since day 2) regarding the open port issue with XPSP2. On installing the patch, a DOS window opens saying there is no limit problem with my XP1 PC. But, as ever, TVAnts comes up with the message (even though it is clear that buffering is occuring as usual) and fails to display the stream (PCast also behaves like this for me tho with no error message). It seems that something is getting in the way !!!
I'd really appreciate if someone could sort this problem out once and for all. TVAnts is the only player with ESPN Asia (broadcast out of Malaysia with virtually non-stop Premier football). I'm getting used to watching the beautiful display from Shanghai Sports when played on PPStream, but Chinese isn't quite as good as Andy Gray.
Cheers anyway for everything you've done. My life in Tokyo has changed for the better !! Good Luck

Is it? Is it Malay? I always thought it was ESPN China, but I don't speak either language.

can anyone comment on the wikipedia entry for tvants which claims it contains spyware?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TVants
"It has been found that TVants contains spyware. Once you connect to a particular channel, it connects to mayiad.com/ and it loads on to the user's computer a trojan dropper. The file names are usually rundll.exe, tmp1.exe, csrss.exe, tmp.exe. They are created in the user's Temporary Internet Files and in the Program Files or Program Files/Common Files."

Try running it without your firewall and/or anti virus. This works for me. Just need to remember to put them back when finished.

Try TVU. It's got ESPN Asia and a pretty good picture.

Any suggestions to resolve this problem then? I can only access TVAnts with the firewall down, which is obviously not ideal.

Bearing in mind that they are system filenames, I wouldn't go deleting them if I were you.
Scan your PC with the Antivirus software you have faith in. Also Adaware & Spybot S & D. If they find anything, fix it. But bear in mind, there is a lot of scare-mongering surrounding P2P & a lot of scanners give out false positives through lack of info on this technology.
A prime example being Spybot flagging Pcast as the usenet picture downloader!

your welcome WHU
and Scoobydoo is quite corect they are system files and quite important ones at that also bang on about the reacent tremd for some anyivirus/spyware to flag p2p applications incorectly my advice is similar to Scoobydoos have several antivirus software tools you have tried and trust and use them all to scan your system if there is anything they will find and clear it if they dont find anything almost certainly there will be nothing , remeber some peoople have a vested interest to discourage the use of p2p appliances ......taxi for Rupert M

If you have Windows Media Player 11 (Beta 2) installed roll back to version 9 or 10, also rollback the runtime 11 as well.
Then scan your PC in Safe Mode, to do this click
http://www.pchell.com/support/safemode.shtml
or
Hope this helps.
Plus..
Run http://www.ccleaner.com/to remove all temp files.
Good luck.

As I now know after weeks of trying. Espn Asia on TVU is ESPN Philipines. Go to the ESPN/STAR web site and check out the tv schedules for HK/Malaysia and the philips and you'll see what I mean.

Check http://www.espnstar.com/tvtimes/tvtimes_index.jsp out and compare the various ESPN countries schedule for Saturday. The malaysian connection also explains the occasional appearance of Indian studio hosts. This is what I dream to have working on TVAnts.

Sorry, take that back. The studio is in malaysia but the actual streaming link is from ESPN China, of course.

What firewall are you using?
I have Sygate and I have no problems running TV Ants with Sygate on.

For those getting the error C00D11BB
I have been having a problem with TVANTS and have solved it by renaming the windows media player networking information folder. I tried every other suggestion on this site so not sure if you need to do some of those things as well. I have also gone back to windows media player 9 but I would try the following on 10 first:
Why do I get error C00D11BB when I try to stream content?
Error message: "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the specified protocol is not supported. If you typed a URL in the Open URL dialog box, try using a different transport protocol (for example, "http:" or "rtsp:")."
Windows Media Player can't play the file because the specified protocol is either not supported by the Player or not supported by the server.
You can rename the networking information folder for the Player so that it can rebuild its networking information files after you restart it.
To rename the Player networking information folder
1.
Close Windows Media Player. (To do this, on the File menu, click Exit.)
2.
Click Start, and then click Run.
3.
In the Run dialog box, type the following (exactly as shown):
%UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Media
This step opens the following folder on your computer:
SystemDrive:\Documents and Settings\UserProfileName\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Media
4.
In this folder, rename the folder 10.0 to 10.0.bak.
5.
Start the Player and start a new stream from tvants.
That's it. Let me know if this works.
