I am not certain yet who I will vote for, but I'm leaning towards Arsene Wenger.

Was a labour voter, but losing faith in them, certainly don't trust the tories. Lib Dem I don't believe that they would have a clue what to do. SNP, don't think they have a fooking clue.

Could well be spoiling my vote as I don't trust any of the fuckwits to be honest.

Better the devil you know, i'm not voting (dont think i'm eligible), but if i was and i cared i'd vote for Labour. As far as i know its between them n tories, no one else stands a chance of getting voted in, so lesser of two evils i think.

I have never voted, football is more important than some stupid voting as we all know they always say what you want to hear, then never ever do what they said they will do, so they can just win the votes and think they are world beaters

I could never vote Tory. Never ever ever. The hatred for them in some parts of Britain (mainly outside England to be fair) knows no limits!! BUT, Labour will need to make real changes to a number of issues before they'll get anywhere.

The Lib Dems as usual seem to realise that the games up for them!!

People who say that voting is a waste of time because they wont push through with their policies are missing the point. If there were a 90% turn out it would actually send a message that people care again.

When less than half the country vote then of course they'll do what they want, noone is paying any attention anyway.

If you remember the last time the Tories were in power you'll know why it is essential they never govern this country again.

A) At a time when there was 90% turn out - people realised that election campaigns are the greatest load of fucking shit ever and voted with their brains by not voting.

B) When all the country was voting they did what they wanted anyway.

The same goes for my country. I don't and have never voted because both the major parties and most independent candidates are all closely aligned with the christian religion and that really bugs me. Politicians are there to make law and distribute taxes. Somewhere along the line they got lost in their own powerlust. We have the same thing as you - it'll either be a liberal or a labour government that gets in. Accept it - it's just the way it has always been and always will be. No one else has a chance of running the country. Over here it's Liberals save money and make public funding cutbacks then labour gets in and spends all the money and gets into debt then liberals get in etc etc over and over. These days there is so little difference between the two parties that even if i did vote i would be struggling for a reason to vote for one over the other.

And as for people's favourite saying " You didn't vote so you don't have a say" fuck them. The technology of the world has changed and there are a plethora of ways to make your point known. All my friends vote - and not a care for who or why, they wouldn't have a clue - they just tick the box and get their name marked off so they don't get a fine or prison sentence for not voting. Tell me what good that does for the country ? I'll save you the time - it does nothing....

Simple solution to that is to take an active interest. Not all politicians are corrupt and not all parties rely on bullshit to get elected.

If everyone spent even as little as a couple of hours looking through all the parties and picking what they want then the turn out would be better, the vote spread would be greater and it would send a message.

Personally, i think the whole expenses scandal and the war and the deficit has invoked a small stirring of anger in the population and people now realise that having a say in who or how the country you live in is run is important.

If you don't vote you don't have a say. Maybe adding a 'non of the above' on the voting slip would quash that argument and people would then have the right to say that noone is fit to run the country. Should that option receive a majority vote, then I don't know what would happen.

But the fact remains, as you said, the two leading parties are almost identical. At least in America you get two vastly different parties who actually push through with what they say they'll do most of the time.

as been stated Both major parties in uk almost identical now hard to tell apart

the country is in a mess though and something needs done ,people may not be feeling it yet but if the economical decline continues they will feel it greatly in a year or two

my tip is forget party alliances past voting patterns etc take a good look at the candidates in your area suss them out ask them questions see who replies and what vote for the candidate who at least seems to give a fook about thoe who live in his area
that way you have a least a mp who will do what he can for the localarea
the cabinet of any govt will do as it likes so makes no difference nationally but local matters have a big impact on your life sometimes more than tax rates etc etc

The whole political system could change overnight if everyone voted for an independent candidate. Then heaven knows who would be in charge - and would anything get done??

The tories are a big no for me. Don't trust them, party of the wealthy etc etc. Cameron is a populist conjurerer who thinks he has some sort of magic wand and will make everything better. If there is any kind of bandwagon, dodgy Dave will be on it. The similarities to Tony Blair are also frightening:

Cameron dislikes the minimum wage, ofcom and the BBC. He wrote the party's last electon manifesto that was based largely on immigration. He was also an economic advisor to the Major government during the last recession.

The best thing that could come out of this would be a Lab-Lib coalition government.

Vince Cable for chancellor anyone?

Set up a poll. Give YouGov a run for their money.

Edit: or even ask some FSi members to represent the views of each political party and have an alternative 'Leaders Debate'.

^^^ Possibly a bad idea. It would end up as My Team v Your Team or how the Speaker (Mod) deleted my very important post.

... or more probably, "Man U are shite", "No Liverpool are shite" or "I've got a complaint against an Honourable Member of this House, 'Fuck off' is unparliamentary language".

Begbie votes.

It's the only time he signs anything with a wobbly X and doesn't get laughed at because it's in a private booth.

Cheers,

Jeff.

I'm sure that Jeff has been in a few private booths in Spearmint Rhino.

On his own.
