The game's gone to f**k
I know that I am 'preaching to the converted' to a lot of football lovers here but the game is going to Hell in a hand-cart.

Defenders are getting yellow carded for tackles, even if there was absolutely no contact. A player can stop an attack by lying down and holding his head. Forwards can stand in the goalie's eye-line but still aren't deemed to be off-side.

Fair enough, it averages out over a season for your team but that isn't the point. We need a definitive set of rules. You are either off-side or you aren't. You committed a dreadful tackle or you didn't. You are feigning injury or you aren't.

It seems to be FIFA's and UEFA's objective to turn football into a 'non-contact sport' like basketball. There is still plenty of contact in the NBA but the permissible contact comes down to reading this year's rules.

Bah!

I agree with people getting done even if they miss their target. The offside rule is a farce, they were interviewing some international field hockey player on the radio the other day and he said they had abolished offside and its been a great success. Try that for a year rather than the shite we have now.

Should forwards who are caught diving to win a penalty be sent off? If they succeed in conning the ref, they are changing the whole match unfairly and it often results in the keeper or defender being sent off.

I agree with most of what's been said. I didn't watch blackburn v city though. Yes it would be helpful if we drew a line under offside once and for all. I agree, if a ball is played into a dangerous area and an attacker is offside, HE'S OFFSIDE!! I don't care if the ball hasn't been played to him. The old way worked fine. Tackles are a different story. I think it's simple. Anything where studs are up should be a red. Likewise two footed, either from front or from behind. Players move so much quicker today than they did 20 years ago. Velocity is the problem. Even if you don't mean to hurt a bloke when you go flying in, there is a chance you could. By all means go flying in, but one footed, and studs down. In my opinion.
