I'll always love the F.A. cup. One of my greatest memories as a kid was going to Wembley in 1983 to watch the final replay when United beat Brighton 4-0. The first game had been a 2-2 draw. All the supporters coming back from the final couldn't afford to go back again on the thursday, so we bought the tickets from them and hopped on the ferry.
Whatever has happened in recent years, with clubs pursuing the champions league and the premier league, there is a real sinking feeling when your team gets knocked out of the F.A. cup. I was gutted last season to lose to Leeds at home. Always takes me that bit longer to get over a cup loss.
It goes without saying that Utd v Liverpool is the big one, although Arsenal v Leeds is one to relish, though I don't fancy Leeds to pull off a shock for the second year in a row.
Any particular good/bad memories of the F.A. Cup?

Torquay away on Saturday then City or United away and I'm a happy Shark.
We have always been shite in the FA Cup though.
Been to 5 finals in the football league trophy though. Wembley thrice and Cardiff twice. Cracking days out. 90K v Brum and the first ever Golden Goal (despite what history says) was ace. I got so pissed I sat down after going for a piss to find I was on the wrong side of the ground and was actually sat in the Brum end. Nice people, Brum fans.
apart from Giggsy, I remember Becks celebrating with the fans at the final whistle! Great stuff. I just knew after that, that we had a great chance of the treble.

and Smith must score...... remember it well. I was only just a teen then and couldn't afford to go. Worst was the fact my brother was a United fan as were most of my friends.
Big game for Brighton this weekend South coast derby v Pompey.Really hoping your sidekick on your radio show won't be happy on Monday. Saying that think this is the first year not really worried if go out as want to be playing Championship football come August at the new stadium.
Always enjoy FA cup though, usually an upset or 2.
wasnīt "and smith must score" the name of a brighton fanzine?
Brighton should have won the first game. Tony Grealish, who captained Brighton in the first game, lives here and is a top bloke. He loves talking about the final. In fact when he describes listening to Abide with me, the hairs stand on the back of your neck. He also played 50ish times for the republic of Ireland.
Steve Foster (correct me if im wrong) returned to skipper you in the second game.
The other thing I remember about the saturday was Brighton arriving in a helicopter!!
The man with the headband absolute legend, Foster.Yes he was suspended for the first game. Shame about the replay being so one sided takes the shine off what could have been.Would love to see them glory days again, who knows that's the magic of the cup for any team.
Another great player for the club Grealish, glad to hear he is doing well in Spain. That's the point as well to players it means so much to play at somewhere like Wembley, such great honour.
Yes Grealish is flying. heīs best mates with derek Statham, West brom legend. Always good for a chat. The stories they tell are hilarious. these lads have no egos, they tell very self deprecating tales.
Statham, I was reliably informed by Kevin Ratcliffe, was denied dozens of caps for England by a certain Kenny Sansom. Who itīs fair to say wasnīt a bad player either!!
Come on saturday! whole day of vegging in front of telly! chatting www.chat.visioninflux.com with you guys and gals, hoping there is a shock or two . . . . . cannot cheer for leeds against Arsenal, no self respecting United fan could.
And then sunday!!!! Liverpool at old trafford. Anything can happen. Lets have it!!
Yes,talking about taking the Mickey . . . . . . Thomas!
What the F.A. Cup is all about!! Managers of premier clubs shaking their heads in bewilderment, watching their so called world class players struggling against teams 2 and 3 divisions below them!!
we had it last season at home to league1 leeds!
wonder who will suffer tomorrow? there will be one
Not just hoping that Brighton win today but another local team for me crawley win. They host Derby and could cause upset, playing good football with good results too. Bring it on.
stevenage were brilliant great attitude as were leeds who blew it,capello stated that he wanted to see the english spirit hope he got that recorded, stick it on at the next team meet
yeah congrats to stevenage and nott county. Excellent perofrmances by them both. What a great start to the cup! Leeds nearly pulled it off as well, although it wouldn't have been as BIG a shock, as they are a giant club and are in the champ'ship.
My day will be complete today if we beat Liverpool and leicester beat city
