Stone Roses
To reform by the looks of it.

Don't know what to make of it. Most important band in my life but I never saw them live. Saw Ian Brown do a few roses tracks at Leeds once. Can't help but think I'll be let down.

Ian Brown is shit live.

Same as you, massive influence when I first really started listening to music.

Something tells me it isn't going to be as good as everyone is hyping it up to be.

Aye. Talk of two gigs 'round here. Heaton Park and Citeh's ground. Wouldn't mind watching them but I can't help think this is going to be a let down. Ian Brown got divorced a few months ago. Wonder if she fleeced him.

Ian Brown on the Stone Roses reunion: 'It's happening'
Tabloid reports this morning say band's reformation is definitely on

Ian Brown has reportedly confirmed that the much talked about reunion of The Stone Roses is definitely taking place.

According to The Sun this morning (October 17), magician Dynamo, who is a close friend of Brown, showed the paper's journalist a text message from the singer about the reunion, which said: "We are going to rule the world again. It's happening."

Rumours of a reunion flared up on Friday (October 14), with a major music publicist refusing to confirm or deny that a planned announcement on Tuesday (October 1 would indeed be declaring the band's return. It follows news breaking last April that singer Ian Brown and guitarist John Squire had met up for what was thought to be the first time since the band's 1996 split.

The band's former drummer Alan 'Reni' Wren became the first member of the band to break ranks on the reunion rumours on Friday (October 14), contacting NME with a cryptic message that read: "Not before 9T will I wear the hat 4 the Roses again".

According to the tabloid's report, Elbow's Guy Garvey has also confirmed the reunion, with a source telling the paper: "Guy was talking to friends about how the original line-up had been rehearsing over the summer in Manchester."

If Friday's rumours are to be believed, plans for The Stone Roses reunion will include a large scale show in Manchester's Heaton Park next summer.

Thats one band I never thought I'd see perform again..

I got to see them at Wembley arena just before they broke up, it wasn't pretty! It was the first time I'd seen him sing live and thought, 'man, he don't give a shit, he's just shouting..' then I saw him at a few festivals and realised thats how the silly cunt really sings..

Gotta love him though.. he does have some class..

I never did like them so I doubt if a reunion will change anything.

Interesting interview with Marr in the Sun *spits* last week where he said although him and Mozza get on now they will never reform. I think they should do the same and just let it be. Shuddering at what new stuff they are working on.

Begs, you have the musical tastes of a squirrel, so your opinion means jack shit.

'tis true. They've reformed. Squire, Brown, Mani and Reni.

I really hope I am wrong that this is going to be dissapointing.

They came up with one of my favourite albums ever.... then it all went Pete Tong.

This won't last long.... like a cheap Chinese firework I suspect.

I disagree. Turns into Stone and Second Coming are much underrated albums which on their own would be considered classics. Problem is Stone Roses set the benchmark so high they could never produce something so good again. I'll be at Heaton Park.

I heard they were doing three Heaton Park gigs!

I used to love going to heaton park as a nipper! The sand box and the massive paddling pool, the smelly animals, and smelly flowers not forgetting the panoramic views over Cheetham Hill cemetery!

Glad I left now!

The problem was it was 4 years in between "Stone Roses" and "Second Coming" and there is only 2 maybe 3 real quality songs on second coming. If you are going to leave it that long between albums then people are expecting quality, and rightly so.

Yes "stone Roses" helped transform British music but you can't help but think that by the time they brought out a second album other bands had taken over and were producing better quality albums.

If it is just concerts that they are doing then it will be pretty shit. The atmosphere will be amazing but Ian Brown can't sing for shit and after years of hoping and waiting you would probably leave with a bit of a bitter taste in your mouth. If they are doing an album I can't see what they will bring to the table that hasn't already been done now. Should have left The Roses where they were, and looking back fondly rather than thinking of them being disappointing.

Guess who got a golden ticket?

£60. Will be worth every penny. Couldn't get on all morning. Spent 2 hours trying. Had a pact with a mate we'd supply one of the four to each other. He just got the email confirming it.

According to the radio they are the fastest selling tickets in music history.

150K sold in 14 mins for Friday and Saturday.

75K in 8 mins an hour later for Sunday.

22 mins to sell 225K tickets...and I got me a golden ticket.

Enjoy 'hearing' your youth run down a drain. * GURGLE *

With a bit of luck (for you), the audience might carry it through. Nobody is going to pay fifty-odd quid and admit that they wasted fifty-odd quid.

The music will be stale. The audience will be taking fewer Es. You will leave the concert insisting that it was 'good' but you won't really think that it was.
