Everyone has their own favourite program. Some work well for some but not for others.
Help out those new to P2P streaming and let us know your favourites.

I wish I could vote meaningfully but the majority of those programs don't work on my mac :(
Anyway...
The best in this order..
PPmate
PPstream
Tvants

My favourite programs are PPMate and SopCast, great quality streams lately, with no buffering.

TV ants works best for me!

At the moment it's PPMate closely followed by Sopcast. TV Ants works really well for some channels so that would come in 3rd.
TvKoo and TvNoo also work very well although both don't have as many sport channels as the others.
I find ppmate the best for me followed by Sopcast

I've just gone from 256 connection to 1500, bloody Australia is soooo far behind in internet speeds, and haven't had the chance to check out the streams with the new speed. I could only get decent streams through PPStream, nothing else would play

I`ve only been using two lately, PPMate and SopCast, both great quality streams with no buffering.

Sopcast best for me
Tvu was also great but seems to lack games now

Cheers had been using TVU Player... but that list is fantastic!!
TVants always seems to be buffering all the time. PPLive was excellent, but now the channel doesnt seem to have much football on it.
Just watched Blackburn lose to the pikeys on ppstream and it was an excellent picture. Shame the commentary was in an a language I couldn't understand.

For me PPMate has taken over as the best. It has virtually every channel i need and the quality is pretty good with absolutely no buffering at all.
I don't think there has been an English match in recent weeks that hasn't been on PP Mate.
Long may it continue.

PPMate for me. Loads of sport channels, no buffering, loads quickly, english etc...

Sopcast, PPMate & TvAnts are good for me, ESPN & StarSports are usually good for Man Utd and English commentary. Sopcast offers the best buffer free play.

TV Ants has always worked well for me followed by PPMate. Good to see StarSport is showing the Man U v Portsmouth match cos we'll have the English commentary!

PPMate is performing well at present!
TV Ants has always been a little up and down for me as is PPLive.
SopCast, PPStream and PCast (old version) are reliable also.

The perfect player for me would be the reliability of tvants and the sleakness and functionality.
Sopcast is good but the audio is always distorted for me.
TVants - "A most powerfull live TV is here!" LOL

PP Mate by a mile!
Then Sopcast and Podcast for me. They all run well virtually buffer free and no hassle apart from runtime error messages sometimes.

Agree with you Derek. PPMate outclasses anything by far in my opinion, I like TVAnts, but it uses far too much resources for my liking. Sopcast works well and TVU for the world cup was outstanding (Shame England wasn't lol).

Was PPMate but when it had 31 sports channels. Now it only has 14. PCast now only has 4!

There is an idiots guide to getting started in the forums at the top of the main page... the ones the site advised you to read through before registering... But very simply:
Go to the 'software you'll need to watch streams' forum. Pick a few players to install. For each one, go into the appropriate thread, click the download link, and save the install package, just as you would any other file from the net. Personally, I've added a 'Football Streaming' folder to the program files part of my hard drive, to keep them all together. But that's just me.
Once the install file is downloaded, run it. It'll take you through everything step by step and at the end you'll have the program. Now, find a channel link that uses your program in 'THIS WEEK'S LINKS' on any of the football forums, click on it, and the channel should appear.
And if it's not showing football, do make sure to check there's actually a game on at that time before posting any messages asking why!

I've just joined today in the hope of watching the Liverpool game. However I've got a Mac so does that effectively rule me out using PPmate Sopcast etc or any of the streams

Hiya,
My first post here, so can i initially say what a stunningly good site. Blatantly obvious instructions, great info, and more importantly free footy!!!
But to follow up the above post i also stuck 2 fingers up to Bill Gates and joined the Mac revolution. So no Windows or IE for me. So basically HELP!!! Does ANY of the software work on Macs (before i try downloading every single broadcaster?)

Looking at the poll, I see a few votes next to 'other'.
Any chance of letting us know what these other streaming programs are?

maybe the question is too loose and they just responded to what software they use regularly, such as word or firefox which is other on the poll
bloody picky if they have
but if not please tell we always want to expand the knowledge in our huge fsi-filled brains

I have just recently d/l PPmate and I think it shows almost all the english matches, only wish commentary was in english. I do get the matches on my satellite receiver but its always a fight with my son who wants to watch his cartoons....

in answer to showing united its up to the broadcaster what they show but united are one of the biggest clubs in the world so are shown quite a bit, but always check the english football forum for schedules.
If you want english commentry, the channels to look out for are espn and star sports
if it wont load, make sure you have a high enough speed internet connection and aren't blocked by a firewall etc
im not sure about caifu but im sure some other mods know more and can explain better

It does work, the channels do load, uninstall norton!
Read the help guides and you'll see what we mean! If you still get probs after that, ask for help in the proper place with a bit of punctuation and possibly an insight on what happens (in more than two word burts), someone might help you!

Hi ...a newbie here.
We have just got Windows Vista and I see the only software recommended for use with Vista is TV ants.
Just wondered if anyone was successfully using any of the others

hi rages

yes i have vista and almost all the players work ok

read the relevant threads on each player and feel free to ask any questions you need

TvU is my favourite at the moment8)
these work for me ... SopCast & TVUPlayer
these don't work for me ... TVAnts & PPstream
so my vote goes to SopCast.

so my vote goes to SopCast. To get TvAnts to work, most people have to use Asian proxies, which are changed regularly. See the guide in post #1 here (http://www.fsicrew.info/forums/showthread.php?t=6452).

sopcast used to be my best stream until the epl ban. but its coming back a bit now. TVU & PPmate not too bad, but tvant hit & miss even with proxies.

They all have thier own charm:):), sopcast used to be terrible now its my fav, used to love ppmate now its not so reliable, sometimes uusee is perfect sometimes it plays up, but anyhow i have never liked TVU at any time(avoid it like the clap), amazing how different people's PC's react differently. Sopcast at the moment for me is the best by a long shot(90-100% buffering):D
1.sopcast
2.ppmate
3.ppstream
4.uusee
5.tvpants
6.pub(depending on game IF arsenal, chelsea, man u then first choice)
7.radio five live(or 94.9fm)
8.teletext
9.mobile phone
10.go to the match(buy off a tout gimme a break, i'd rather save £100 for my bills etc):):):):):)
11.TVU
12.Afreeeeeeeeca!!!!!
13.last resort kick the cat?

TVants can be problematic. See here (http://www.freewebs.com/friendsoffsi/) for a idiots guide. Apart from Sopcast I also use TVU.

I am genuinly stunned to hear that the majority of users here think that PPMate is excellent software for streaming. This may be partly because I have not yet tried it.
However, my list for the 3 top streamers will have to be:
1. ) Sopcast
2.) TVUPlayer
3.) TVAnts or maybe PPMate, when I actually test it out.
Thanks for this great website
ppmate was good in its day but as this thread is old i think your top 3 are now correct tbh i wouldnt even bother with ppmate now, stick to your top 3
