TVAnts has the most channels out of any P2P streaming program (usually over 500!). The program is mostly in English so it's easy to understand. Use the Search tab to find channels or use the tvants.com channel list or click a link provided on FSi.

I have publish some translated TVants guide in google doc & spreachsheets, some actually are guides from Microsoft in how to capture and encode better, and mostly are tips from TVants advanced users. Anyway, thanks and highly appreciate to their contributions to TVants development:

Problems:
TvAnts recommend you have Windows Media Player 10 before installing or using this program. If you do not have WMP10, you have no reason to complain if channels don't work. If you have WMP9, upgrade to WMP10. If you have WMP11, rollback your player and runtime environment tp WMP10.
Also try installing the Chinese WM9 codecs.

I've tried the patch available on this site which is supposedly able to prevent the error message received when playing back TVAnts (which hasn't worked for me since day 2) regarding the open port issue with XPSP2. On installing the patch, a DOS window opens saying there is no limit problem with my XP1 PC. But, as ever, TVAnts comes up with the message (even though it is clear that buffering is occuring as usual) and fails to display the stream (PCast also behaves like this for me tho with no error message). It seems that something is getting in the way !!!
I'd really appreciate if someone could sort this problem out once and for all. TVAnts is the only player with ESPN Asia (broadcast out of Malaysia with virtually non-stop Premier football). I'm getting used to watching the beautiful display from Shanghai Sports when played on PPStream, but Chinese isn't quite as good as Andy Gray.
Cheers anyway for everything you've done. My life in Tokyo has changed for the better !! Good Luck

Is it? Is it Malay? I always thought it was ESPN China, but I don't speak either language. :-\

can anyone comment on the wikipedia entry for tvants which claims it contains spyware?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TVants
"It has been found that TVants contains spyware. Once you connect to a particular channel, it connects to mayiad.com/ and it loads on to the user's computer a trojan dropper. The file names are usually rundll.exe, tmp1.exe, csrss.exe, tmp.exe. They are created in the user's Temporary Internet Files and in the Program Files or Program Files/Common Files."

Try running it without your firewall and/or anti virus. This works for me. Just need to remember to put them back when finished.
Try TVU. It's got ESPN Asia and a pretty good picture.

you are right espn asia on tvu is quality but it doesnt always have the matches on unlike espn china on tv ants

Any suggestions to resolve this problem then? I can only access TVAnts with the firewall down, which is obviously not ideal.

have you tried with just windows firewall running it shouldnt block the streams in any way and will protect you fine
also check that tvants does have proper clearance with the firewall you are using
Thanks for that accieturk. I'll have a proper look over the next few days.

Bearing in mind that they are system filenames, I wouldn't go deleting them if I were you.
Scan your PC with the Antivirus software you have faith in. Also Adaware & Spybot S & D. If they find anything, fix it. But bear in mind, there is a lot of scare-mongering surrounding P2P & a lot of scanners give out false positives through lack of info on this technology.
A prime example being Spybot flagging Pcast as the usenet picture downloader!

your welcome WHU
and Scoobydoo is quite corect they are system files and quite important ones at that also bang on about the reacent tremd for some anyivirus/spyware to flag p2p applications incorectly my advice is similar to Scoobydoos have several antivirus software tools you have tried and trust and use them all to scan your system if there is anything they will find and clear it if they dont find anything almost certainly there will be nothing , remeber some peoople have a vested interest to discourage the use of p2p appliances ......taxi for Rupert M
If you have Windows Media Player 11 (Beta 2) installed roll back to version 9 or 10, also rollback the runtime 11 as well.
Then scan your PC in Safe Mode, to do this click

As I now know after weeks of trying. Espn Asia on TVU is ESPN Philipines. Go to the ESPN/STAR web site and check out the tv schedules for HK/Malaysia and the philips and you'll see what I mean.

Check http://www.espnstar.com/tvtimes/tvtimes_index.jsp out and compare the various ESPN countries schedule for Saturday. The malaysian connection also explains the occasional appearance of Indian studio hosts. This is what I dream to have working on TVAnts.

I have been having a problem with TVANTS and have solved it by renaming the windows media player networking information folder. I tried every other suggestion on this site so not sure if you need to do some of those things as well. I have also gone back to windows media player 9 but I would try the following on 10 first:
Why do I get error C00D11BB when I try to stream content?
Error message: "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the specified protocol is not supported. If you typed a URL in the Open URL dialog box, try using a different transport protocol (for example, "http:" or "rtsp:")."
Windows Media Player can't play the file because the specified protocol is either not supported by the Player or not supported by the server.
You can rename the networking information folder for the Player so that it can rebuild its networking information files after you restart it.
To rename the Player networking information folder
1.
Close Windows Media Player. (To do this, on the File menu, click Exit.)
2.
Click Start, and then click Run.
3.
In the Run dialog box, type the following (exactly as shown):
%UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Media
This step opens the following folder on your computer:
SystemDrive:\Documents and Settings\UserProfileName\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Media
4.
In this folder, rename the folder 10.0 to 10.0.bak.
5.
Start the Player and start a new stream from tvants.
That's it. Let me know if this works.

Arggh... I've done everything suggested (changed TCP connecton limit and renaming WMP folder), but TVAnts still doesn't work!
It buffers to 99%, but just can't play. Then, it gives me the error about the TCP count limit.
I go to Windows Media Player, but it says that a network error occured...
I've turned off my firewall but don't know what to do... Please help!
PS: I've tried ppmate too but it doesn't work either

There is a Chinese version of Windows Media Player 11 in both Simplified (http://download.microsoft.com/download/3/9/6/39691B06-7BFA-4736-89E4-2738E6023B6C/wmp11-windowsxp-x86-zh-cn.exe) and Traditional (http://download.microsoft.com/download/B/C/6/BC6D3921-1F44-4C2A-9262-0E779B6A6F89/wmp11-windowsxp-x86-zh-tw.exe). I never had a Chinese version of WMP10 though and that worked with TvAnts.
Raff67
17-11-2006, 11:03 PM
That would be because the app is optimised to work with for 9 and 10.
Personally i´d prefer if they would let it work with VLC instead, then there wouldnt be all these problems.

Maybe I should send the TVAnts team the links to the two WMP11 Chinese versions ;)
Seriously though, it needs fixing fast because more and more people are moving to WMP11, and excluding WMP11 users is going to affect the total number of available peers on the network.
Raff67
24-11-2006, 04:32 PM
Maybe you should write to Microshit instead and ask why wmp11 does not support the mmst protocol and the reasons behind they have dropped it?;)
Another thing, if you look around the forum you might notice a lack of "wmp11 does not work with this or that" posts, perhaps thats because the majority are wise enough to realise that when apps say "recommended with wmp 9 or 10" they mean it and theres a good chance it wont work using anything else. Its one of the problems of early adopters like yourself are likely to encounter. Same thing will happen when vista is released.

Well PPStream, Sopcast, TVUPlayer and PPMate all seem to work ok with WMP11; I haven't had a situation recently where a match I've wanted to see hasn't been on one of these four. PPLive and TvAnts are the two applications which seem to be broken. So, for now at least, I'll be sticking it out with WMP11, because it isn't causing me to miss any football.
SamLKelly
24-11-2006, 09:55 PM
Yeah. To be honest I wouldn't have noticed if it weren't for the fact that TVAnts is the only app. that (always) has CCTV Soccer on it, and CCTV Soccer is nearly always the channel with the weekend's Argentine league games (ocassionally they're on CCTV 5 instead but that seems to have been happening less frequently as the championship's gone on). To be honest the streaming quality of it on a Sunday night is so crap anyway that not having it doesn't really make a difference, but it'd still be nice if it was at least an option again.
Still, PPMate and a few others are updated for it now, so I'm not complaining. I'll be able to watch the review of the year's league action when I'm in Buenos Aires in a few weeks anyway!

It wasn't actually for me, but someone else. He was mucking around and got a pretty good stream going on TVAnts, but he's in the UK and a bit worried about getting busted for it. I'm trying to hassle him into doing a stream of the cricket, so I thought a password might reassure him a bit and make it more likely that I'll get to see some of the ashes. ;)

just want to add, been watching tv footy streams for a long time, its just that this is first time back after a full install.
thing is i cant remember having these problems when i set it up originally.
so guys, ive tried the folder rename,
basically i have had it all afternoon.

i was pulling my hair out this afternoon trying to run the man utd game
EDIT: After googling around, it seems WMP11 is usually the cause of this problem, if you (like me) have installed it, then goto add/remove programs and roll back to WMP 10. Hopefully it'll sort it out

Thats just one process but it adds files all over the place on your system and gives you all sorts of funny occurences.

I am guessing he means iexpl0re.exe with a zero instead of an "o".
As for the warning, pcast has been flagged as spyware by some scanners but I'm not aware of problems with tvants.
As for what you can do: run antivirus and antispyware scanners.

Jamit, you said you could not remove it? It being what? Reason asking is because I'm wondering what you tried removing in the first place to stop windows from loading.
Have you tried loading the windows cd back in and running a "Repair". This will repair windows without deleting what you have already on the disk.
I must also reiterate that I have PCast and TvAnts and haven't had a problem (And still don't).

Try Kaspersky Anti-Virus. They have a free 30 trial. Run a full system scan and see if it removes the virus then uninstall it.

That'd be ok nameuser if he could turn windows on.
Adaware and Spybot DO point to PCast as spyware, but nothing malicious. I put it on the ignore list. As for TVAnts, I have version 1.0.0.58 Build 0720 running and that shows up nothing. I have Windows firewall and AVG Anti-Virus running. I use Adaware, Spybot (Does find PCast as said earlier, just don't fix those) and CCleaner.
Of course be vigilant, but I assure you that TVAnts is safe to use. 8)

If you have any concerns relating to viruses, before you open an exe, upload it here
http://www.virustotal.com/en/indexx.html
Once you have uploaded your file be patient, depending on how big the file is relates to the speed of the examination.

My bad. Well, if you want to remove a virus.. i don't think spybot and ad-aware are very good programs to do that.
I had something like this happen to me before. I did have to use the Windows CD to fix the problem but the "Repair" option didn't work for me. I had to re-install Windows but not reformat the hard drive. It was something like "install over a previous installation of Windows without reformatting". You won't lose your files but you will have to re-install all your programs because this method resets the registry. I don't know if "Repair" does that. I would try "Repair" first.. if that doesn't work then try "Install over Windows without reformatting".
Good luck

For the first time ever, I have received a couple of notifications via my AVG, that I have a Trojan. Only picked up when I tried a couple of channels, $ky Sports 1 & UBC 40, no problem on BUF this morning. It may be from an AVG update, I am not too concened, I just Heal/Delete, but I don't then get to watch the channel. Curious as to whether anyone else has noticed this?

I got the same yesterday on tvants with sky sports + icc cricket channel - for the first time also. AVG reports "Trojan horse downloader" + "Small.58.ag" . Virus d/b's didn't give much help .
When I did a "full" scan i also got references to "pop_up[1].htm" files -all of these plus the "Small.58.ag" files are in "/local settings/temp internet files/IE5"
dir.
I suspect that AVG has up-dated their definitions : - that the "trojan" may be the prog. that launches the pop-up page of adverts that you get b4 the channel loads??? + if you "heal" the pop-up you don't get the channel??
Hope it's as simple as this - would like other opinions tho!!!

Once you do the "heal" are you still able to watch it in like Windows Media Player or any other player? Or does it not even buffer?

Not able to watch. But I agree with Geoff Jones.
When AVG kicks in for it's daily scan it moves it to the vault anyway (as per my settings).
I mainly use Sopcast & PPmate but TVants has a few extra channels and a viable alternative when the others occasionaly play up.

Hi Admin, just to let you know of a typo on the 1st post re the newest version of TVAunts. :)
The version is listed here as 0279 instead of 0729.
Just to be 100% certain I had the latest version, I ended up downing it from both FSI & aunts.com and they are indeed both the same.

no mate, its ok!
Has anyone had any issues with Sports channels loading.?
If so ive found a way round this problem, and its not too technical.
1. Open TVAnts and select TOOLS/SETTINGS/PROXY and then ADD.
You will see the image below
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f48/dockray/MagicalSnap-2007071616.43001.png
Then go here for a Proxy
http://www.xroxy.com/proxylist.php?
Scroll down the page to find the active list.
Once you have found a Chinese or any other Asian countrys Proxy that you are happy with insert it into the Proxy box as shown above.
Eg
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f48/dockray/MagicalSnap-2007071616.50003.png
Type the IP address into the HOST section, the Port into the PORT section, and NOTE, this is SOCKS5, so ensure the TYPE section is showing SOCKS5.
Eg
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f48/dockray/MagicalSnap-2007071615.27004.png
Now click OK, make sure the box is TICKED (if not do so)
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f48/dockray/MagicalSnap-2007071617.01004.png
, click APPLY and OK again.
Now close the Application and then Restart it, find a working Sports Channel, select it, wait a few moments, and it should play.
If it doesn`t, then simply go to the Proxy website in this post, and follow the steps and insert another.
Job done

A question or 2 please...
"Once you have found a Chinese or any other Asian countrys Proxy that you are happy with."
Any Asian country will do...? Or are some better than others?
And what exactly should i be looking for on the "Happiness Front"
I'm guessing things like security first! Speed and dependablity second... But probably security is first...
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Just follow the instructions I have given. No more and no less. Everything will work.
If you have screwed the application up, uninstall, then reinstall. Then follow the steps.

How do you "roll back" to Windows Media Player 10 if u have 11?
FSi Team
21-07-2007, 01:30 PM
Google is your friend...
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/11/readme.aspx#RollingbacktoapreviousversionofthePlay er
Rolling back to a previous version of the Player
Windows Media Player is a feature of the Windows operating system and cannot be removed entirely. However, in Windows XP, you can roll back to the version of the Player that was previously on your computer.
You must be logged on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group to perform the following procedure.
Disconnect any portable music or video devices that might be attached to your computer.
Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
In the Category View of Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs, and then click Remove a program.
Click Windows Media Player 11, and then click Remove.
If Windows Media Player 11 is not displayed in the list of currently installed programs, then try the following:
At the top of the list, select the Show updates check box.
In the Windows XP - Software Updates section, click Windows Media Player 11, and then click Change/Remove.
In each of the two confirmation dialog boxes that appear, click OK.
When the rollback process is complete (it might take several minutes), click Restart.
Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
In the Category View of Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs, and then click Remove a program.
Click Windows Media Format 11 Runtime, and then click Remove.
If Windows Media Format 11 Runtime is not displayed in the list of currently installed programs, then try the following:
At the top of the list, select the Show updates check box.
In the Windows XP - Software Updates section, click Windows Media Format 11 Runtime, and then click Change/Remove.
If you installed a non-US English version of Windows Media Player 11, the instructions in the dialog boxes that are mentioned in steps 9, 10, and 11 might appear in English.
In the first confirmation dialog box that appears, click OK.
In the second confirmation dialog box that appears, select the Do you want to continue with the rollback? check box, and then click OK.
When the rollback process is complete (it might take several minutes to complete), click Restart.
Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
In the Category View of Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs, and then click Remove a program.
Click Microsoft User-Mode Driver Framework Feature Pack 1.0.0, and then click Remove.
Follow the instructions that appear in the Software Update Removal Wizard.
If the Wudf01000 confirmation dialog box appears, click Yes to continue. When the software removal process is complete (it might take several minutes to complete), click Finish.

Don't suppose anyone can help me, longtime user of TVants.. It stopped working a few months ago when I upgraded my WMP so I rolled it back and it was back to its best for a month or so then suddenly without any (tangible) changes it stopped again. Basically I can search all the channels and they all appear in the 'Search' tab but when I try to play one it starts 'Preparing channel' but never moves from there.. and it stays as 'Running' in the 'Channels' tab, but never starts buffering.
I've sorta tried robo's trick but it doesn't seem to help?
Any advice would be much appreciated!
Cheers.

Just turned up for the new season...and this is a bit of concern as I have used it regularly over the last few years together with Sop.
Now I haven't checked yet but has some sort of ip blocking been put in by the makers of TVAnts or by some authority? And does it apply to all UK connections?

I haven't tried using a proxy yet, but it appears ESPN and Setanta are blocked on TvAnts for my IP (I'm on UK Online). Other channels seems to work OK.
I would have thought that running TvAnts traffic through a proxy will cause a lot of problems because proxies tend to be pretty slow at the best of times (unless of course it's a paid-for proxy).
It did occur to me after signing up to UK Online that they are owned by Sky. This fact makes me slightly uneasy when it comes to the subject of blocking/throttling football-related p2p! I should add, however, that they are a very good ISP.

I've been using Sopcast today and that's been working great guns but I'd like to able to check and compare as to whether the quality is better on TVants.

Has anyone had any issues with Sports channels loading.?
If so ive found a way round this problem, and its not too technical.
1. Open TVAnts and select TOOLS/SETTINGS/PROXY and then ADD.
You will see the image below
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f48/dockray/MagicalSnap-2007071616.43001.png
Then go here for a Proxy
http://www.xroxy.com/proxylist.php?
Scroll down the page to find the active list.
Once you have found a Chinese or any other Asian countrys Proxy that you are happy with insert it into the Proxy box as shown above.
Eg
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f48/dockray/MagicalSnap-2007071616.50003.png
Type the IP address into the HOST section, the Port into the PORT section, and NOTE, this is SOCKS5, so ensure the TYPE section is showing SOCKS5.
Eg
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f48/dockray/MagicalSnap-2007071615.27004.png
Now click OK, make sure the box is TICKED (if not do so)
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f48/dockray/MagicalSnap-2007071617.01004.png
, click APPLY and OK again.
Now close the Application and then Restart it, find a working Sports Channel, select it, wait a few moments, and it should play.
If it doesn`t, then simply go to the Proxy website in this post, and follow the steps and insert another.
Job done
im new to this but thanks for the advice on tvants with the proxy settin it worked a treat

Here's my solution to the TV Ants problem...
Use the old version of TV Ants (Download from the Software & Download section.)
Use Windows media player 9 or 10 (WMP 11 may not work.)
1.Open TV Ants. DO NOT UPDATE IF ASKED... Go to 'TOOLS' then select SETTINGS.
2.Select 'SHARE' then select 'ENABLE RANDOM SELECT LISTEN PORT IN ABOVE RANGE.' Select APPLY then OK.
3. Now Select 'PROXY.'
4. Select 'USE PROXY SERVER TO CONNECT TRACK SERVER AND PEERS.'
5. IMPORTANT: Select 'ENABLE RANDOM PROXY SERVER.' A green tick should appear in the box.
6. Select 'ADD.' Use these proxy severs for now. Get new ones from www.xroxy.com (http://www.xroxy.com)
socks5 61.175.139.6 port 1080
socks5 62.205.200.157 port 3128
socks5 84.201.207.12 port 1080
socks5 203.186.92.119 port 1080
socks5 222.231.63.18 port 7000
IMPORTANT: Use all the selected proxy's at the same time (i.e green ticks by the side of ALL the selected proxy's.)
Select 'APPLY' then OK. If 'APPLY' is not available just select 'OK.'
7. Close TV Ants then re-open.
8. Select a sports channel. The channel should now play. It may take up to 3 minutes to connect, if not close the channel then re-open the channel. That may fix it. Or open 3 or 4 channels at the same time.
Hope this fixes your problems. I've been using this solution for a week now. Watched The Liverpool game on Saturday and it worked fine.
Hope this helps.
Good Luck!!!

Apologies if this is the wrong forum. I've downloaded the fsicrew forum version of TVAnts. I only have 2 channels showing and when I clicked the link for Arsenal v Man United it said:
"Can't show announce - failure occured during download"
I also had loads of trouble getting into this website. Any help appreciated.
FYI I'm using Vista an also tried downloading PPStream, which seemed to download okay. I was able to view some Chinese channels, but couldn't find the United Arsenal game.

hi Bazza
sorry you had logged off before i could reply
firstly have a read of the tvants thread you will find a few other trackers listed and some usefull tips including the use of proxies
i would also advise you to download sopcast tvu and uusee
dont worry about trying to find channels yourself just use the links provided note some require 1 click to open player and another click to activate channel/stream
it does sound as if your download was interrupted/corrupted uninstall it and re download it
also some of us on vista find players work better if you right click the desktop icon and select run as administrator
our apologies for the disruption to the site at the moment we are doing all we can to prevent the cause
best advice is get on site a few hours before matches and save the feedback page with the links included
have a read through most of the forum you will fins most things are already covered but if you need more help with anything just ask
and finally a big welcome to FSI

Hi folks, I think I saw a post about this recently but I couldn't find it so I need help! Fair enough except its in Chinese or whatever and I flunked that at school. Any help appreciated.

Think the new one is on here, Glen. In the software section. Choose latest version.
EDIT. It is! Just checked. Updated 28th Dec.
EDit 2. Note down all your proxy settings if when you do it. Just in case.

I thought that Begbie. But the optimist in me thinks it'll be that it'll work best if everyone is on the same (ish) version.
Strange that the Spurs game buggered off for 5 minutes after kick off for everyone yesterday though. It's usually quite reliable when you've got it going. Although when I got it going again it stayed up.

Is this an FSI problem?

I've just updated to the new tvants (1.0.0.59 bld 0834) & now it won't connect to any channels. I either get "Preparing channel 10" or detecting proxy settings and then nothing. Checking the events tab on the control panel, I'm seeing:
Type Time Description
Warning 2008-01-02 15:05:09.698 Socket error occurs. Mode: UDP Listen, Local: 192.168.1.111:16800, Error: (10049)The requested address is not valid in its context.
I've set my router to port fwd ports 16800->16900 tcp & udp to this pc (192.168.1.111) - the above error looks remarkably suspicious. Any ideas?

Scratch the above - crappy Norton had crashed on me & must have been blocking TVAnts as after a reboot Norton popped up asking if it was ok for TVAnts to connect to internet.

My advice would be to get shot of Norton altogether and get something like AVG, free version. Norton doesn't like P2P and uses a lot of resources.

Hi All.
I know it's me :-/ but it's been a long time since I used TvAnts and other stuff to watch live football matches (I think since 2006 world cup), now I'm back and this time to see African Cup, as we work on the same time as come important matches like my country one (Morocco).
I need please advise about how to get WMP or VLC player work with TvAnts. The problem is that we have a spare pc that has ADSL conexion but no one is allowed touse this pc at full time, and installed TvAnts, Sopcast on it, tested conexion and everything went ok.
in my pc, I installed VLC player.
1- using Sopcast on the "server" pc, I only need to open the url http://serverpc:8902/ on vlc to see what sopcast is diffusing now.
2- i tried that with tvants but havn't recieve any picture.
What shoudl I exactly put on VLC player as url so I can see streaming video.

Do a search of the forums - there are loads of tips for getting TV Ants to work. Basically there is something in the latest version that detects UK ISPs and you need to work round that.
Most seem to use SopCast, TVU and then TV ants as a last resort I think. Let us know if you get it to work !

nned some help here I think.
so I just downloaded and installed latest TVAnts version.
Installed and seems to work fine - clicked on CCTV5 in the channels list and all works great.
Problem is when I click on the link out of IE from the site here (at the moment I'm trying the Rangers/Liverpool link), it opens a new window and loads FSi homepage. When I try the Light Version, I get a red X where the player should be. What am I missing ?
I'm a bit of a Windows noob so dunno if I have to tell IE what to do with the link or what. I'd like to tell it what to go and do, but that's a different story... ;)

I made a non destructive windows system recovery and since then Tvants stopped working with a message saying "No channel exists in the list Please retry search or browse our website "http://www.tvants.com" for channels.
I am using Windows Vista Service Pack 1 and have got the latest version of Tvants and have never had a problem like this in the past with that software.
The firewall is not blocking it I even tried to disable it and its still the same.
I try searching for TV and it cannot find a channel:'(
Anyone knows how to fix this problem?:x

Has your proxies or server lists reset? I get no channels at all in my tvants without adding a handful of proxies every week?
I tend not to use it anyway, with reliable bowser links and sopcast links i usually find a way of watching a game.

goldenfi6h
29-09-2008, 07:00 PM
Actually with adding new proxies I am able to catch new channels and the list comes. However this was not the case before. Because I remember that I didn't require proxies before to run the channels. I know that if I make a full system recovery this problem will be fixed! But why do that when I don't have no viruses have so many games installed as well as Crysis Warhead that is a DRM game.
If there was an easier solution to this I would be so grateful but sadly it seems I am stuck like this forever:-/:'(
I would go along with Revolver on this and look at your proxy settings look on here for a good rated one from Asia http://www.xroxy.com/proxylist.php?port=&type=Socks5&ssl=&country=&latency=&reliability=#table

If you haven't already done so, click on the 'Servers' tab in TvAnts and enter
list.tvants.com

as servers. That should get all the channels back when you click 'Search'.
Edit: There's another working one out there but I can't find it. The LIVE 1, 2 and 3 are on it. Any help appreciated.

Anyone who knows about TVants should know which are useful and which are not.

Rev. I promise that the 2 trackers that I gave will get you the same channels. Most of yours are down or else just mirroring. Delete them one-by-one and watch your channel count do absolutely nothing.

most of those were listed on here at one point as well rev but like tvants itself the trackers seem to change every so often #the 2 begbie has listed are showing all the channels tvants oficially claims to have and a few more and ive found no need for a proxy whilst using these trackers

Fish toast
tvants should offer a update option when you open expiring version if not then the orange/red bar on tvants page should dowmnload the latest version
Dragon
nice to see you again my friend
you may want to try localhost:8901
you should get tvants with that as opposed to 8902 (better for sopcast and tvu)

edit

Right after a few tries I got it to install. When doing it I deselected "Active X control" and it completed the installation.
Probably won't be able to use the embedded version in Internet Explorer but that's shite anyway. Should still work in Firefox....I hope.

Download and install TvAnts 2009 (http://misc.tvants.com/download/TvantsSetup.exe) if you haven't done so already. Use Windows Explorer to go to c:\program files\TvAnts (or wherever you installed TvAnts.) Right-cick on the TvAnts application. Select 'Copy'. Go to your Desk-top and right-click on a clear bit of screen. Select 'Paste'. Double-clicking the new TvAnts icon should start the new version. You can delete other TvAnts icons on the screen.

Hi
Set up TVants initially loaded a stream could get sound but video was distorted pink and green ,so had read up in the forum and added a proxy but still getting same prob ,also tried loading through VLC. Running through a Linksys router not sure if I need to forward any ports etc ,any hlp would be appreciated

You should be OK without forwarding ports, Tezza. I don't have to use proxies now. It should be OK without them.
There are a few tips on the TvAnts page here (http://www.freewebs.com/friendsoffsi/index.htm), including the ports to forward. It might help. :dunno:
Edit: Which channel are you trying? I'll give it a go too and see how it works at my end. The main server is down again so you'll probably only have a choice of 23 channels.

It's not working for me at all. Looks like I was lying and we might need proxies with this new version. I'll have to go and investigate.
Your distorted picture definitely sounds like codec probs. There will probably be people on later who can steer you in the right direction.
Edit: Setanta 1 not coming in with or without a proxy for me. If you're getting the channel and in the UK looks like TvAnts problems ahead for most UK members.

This won't help your problem but if you haven't already done so, click on the 'Servers' tab in TvAnts and 'Add' tuner.tobroadcast.com as a server.
Sorry, I'm going to have to reboot. My PC is crawling. Back shortly.

I'm not too sure what you're having a problem with, alfyboy. If you're trying to download TvAnts, click here (http://misc.tvants.com/download/TvantsSetup.exe), it's definitely working as I've just downloaded it (again).
If it's anything else that you're having a problem with, you need to post a wee bit more detail about what stage you're at and what's happening.

Where's your little strange tower thing gone?
My Martello Tower seemed to disappear at the time of your big change over along with loads of my old posts (never mind!). If I remember where I've stored it, I'll load it up again. By the way, Eastbourne Borough are at their highest ever position in football (13th in the conference). Maybe playing Carlisle in a few years time? Mind you, we did get stuffed by your neighbours (Barrow) so it could be a long few years!

We (well not me, I'm a lazy git) delete a lot of old threads every so often to keep the database size down. When this happens everybodies posts counts go down. I would probably have about 10,000 posts of sheer crap rather than the 3,977 it currently says.
Re images and stuff. You're best hosting them on tinypic or imageshack and putting the url in.

I have the following servers on my up-to-date version of TVAnts
list.tvants.com
tuner.tobroadcast.com
hive.tobroadcast.com
www.p2psports.cn
www1.tvants.com
www2.tvants.com
With these servers it only gives me one sport channel which is dedicated to SURFING! zzzzzzz
Can anyone please tell me which servers i need to add to to allow me to watch a bit of footy
Cheers

I've only got:
list.tvants.com
tuner.tobroadcast.com
The others are dead (I think). The main server is list.tvants.com. It's been up and down like the Assyrian empire recently. It's up at the minute so a search should be giving you 117 channels.
Clicking on our links or posting the URL into your address bar should load the channel if the server is up, whether or not you have it in your list. There's no need for proxies at the moment.

Right-click on the link and choose 'Properties'. The address shown is the URL. Highlight it and CTRL-C it or choose 'Copy' from the Edit menu on your browser. CTRL-V (or 'Paste' from the Edit menu) pastes it into your browser when the cursor is in the URL field.

had comp cleaned up new ants no play any ideas folksHi David. See the TvAnts page here (http://www.freewebs.com/friendsoffsi/index.htm). Ignore the bit about Asian proxies as they aren't required at the minute.
The main TvAnts server has been very unreliable recently. When it's down, the channels on that server can't load.
Just downloaded TVAnts for my computer....(running Vista).
When I try to run the software I'm getting messages that the version has
expired. I'm directed to tvants.com but can't decipher what to do there.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
