View Full Version : TeamSpeak
I think teamspeak would be a great idea because.
if people have problems they could ask somebody inside the teamspeak. when your watching the football you could watch it with over members just like you would with family, friends or down the club. people can talk to others live and don't have to rely on getting them to read your thread.its easy and simple to use!
_WHAT IS TEAMSPEAK_
Teamspeak is a Over the internet Group talk software. you get you teamspeak hosted by a company for a price or even free and inside it you can add chat channels sub channels different permissions and passwords if you wish. also players can be given certain permissions like for moderators it could be CA -- channel administrator which can usely take a players voice permissions away -- or -- SA which can kick, ban, move, and grant permissions. (usely a max of 20 users if its a free hoster.can be set up on dedicated servers if wished)
Or you could just use the FSi chatroom which is FREE
Ahh but teamspeak is were you SPEAK using a computor mic so you can actuly properly have a convesation with another member
Id be banned within the first 2 mins .

On a technical note, it would probably make your (and other people's) stream worse. Most people are on a supposed 8 Mbps but still struggle if ATDHE streams a 1 Mbps stream. There are several reasons, but the Teamtalk wouldn't help.
Apart from that, if it can be set up for free, why not set one up and give it a trial go over the summer, although I'm with Tats, there would be bannings galore, and how do you prove that someone said something offensive and meant offence by it? It's hard enough to decide in the forums when there's a written record and everybody has a different 'offended level' on different topics. As usual I'm waffling, just thinking aloud.

im with begs and Tats on this ,in theory its a good idea ,have a chat with 19 other members you get on with or share things like certain teams intrest in certain leagues and ofcourse either a member of the fsi team or like the suporters lounge(which i will refer to later)a member clued up enough to keep things on a nice friendly level
however a few doubts
as said above what would be acceptable to all group members ,swearing ,windups, offensive coments
then as Begs says the bandwidth issue , i think it may use a fair bit your upload let alown the down load ,this would not only affect the quality of the stream you were getting but by using a large part of your upload would mean without realising you would be leaching the stream affecting the other people using the stream making it worse for others and as p2p goes therefor worse for you
I siad i would return to the supporters lounge and its something i thought about whilst without a comp
on most matchdays we are all prone to discussing matches in the feedback thread ,now i dont mind that when all the streams and players are ok ,no problem then but if a few players and streams go tits up then sometimes having 6 or 7 posts relating to a goal or penalty etc in amongst the help and soloution post as well as new found link does make it hard for in particular the newer members
soloution and this may help those looking for something along the lines of request above ,why not have in each of the suporters lounges a match day thread
a place where the host side and the visiting side fans and any others who wish to comment can nip in and have a chat during the game ,obviously usual acceptable standards of conduct would be requested but more along the banter ,jungle level than normal lounge levels
just an idea although it would worry me a bit regarding strangling the site resources during busy match times but just a thought

Excellent idea about the Feedback thread Accie. I know that in the past I've missed people posting with a problem because someone has just scored or got sent off and I've just clicked past all the posts (probably my laziness).
It might be difficult to get people to post in the right thread though. eg. We need posts about stream quality, problems, new (possibly better) streams etc in the General Feedback thread but if people are in a discussion on a 'match related' thread, they might just post the info there without thinking.
As I say, great idea but needs thinking about before implementation. In general, I wear Edward de Bono's black hat (you don't get references like that on other sites ) when it comes to new ideas. Think about potential problems first and once they're sorted out, back the idea to the hilt if it's a go-er.

All we need is 1 "matchday reaction" thread, where goals, sending offs, etc can be discussed, and also without the need for spoiler alerts. Anyone posting in the feedback thread with anything other than feedback gets the post deleted, consistent offenders can take a trip to the sin bin.

Aye Mike, but back to the problem that people that people might post information in the Match Reaction Thread (it's got a name now, the idea's gathering momentum) instead of the Feedback Thread. There is some info that is border-line as to which one the post should go in. eg A European match has gone to extra-time.
There are probably better examples but if someone thought that they were under a threat of a warning, they'd go for one of the 2 safer options ie post in Match Reaction or just not bother posting at all. From my own point of view, I like to know if a match has gone to extra time or penalties, others are only interested in their own team.
If I would be unsure about where to post, think about the position of some bloke that joined about a week before-hand and hadn't posted before.
I'm just trying to think about practical problems.

oh dear worm cans open
mike is right if we were to have one it would be best to have it for all games might save strain on server a bit
Begs you are right as well it could be confusing over certain issues where to post , but if say the example you gave a game going to extra time occured then a posting about it would be ok in stream feedback as it would have an affect on the stream covering the game and also any match scheduled for that channel afterwards , its the incidents in a match taking up perhaps a page or more of the feedback page leading as you say to us all missing certain things that had me a bit worried heance the idea
still early and it wasnt till the initial idea of the thread was mentioned that the idea came back to me ,not being able to get on when i thought of it i didnt really take the idea much beyond the most basic level
might be worth us considering ,its close season quiet time and for once we are not running about at this time trying to find a new server no Scudd no ;) so this and other ideas can be given a proper kick about

The chat page is there. But rarely used. Why not promote and try and use that a bit more?
