Thanks everyone for your well wishes.
I'm out of hospital and back home now on the mend. Be bleeding for about a week after the op.
The cancer was unfortunately attached to the bladder wall which meant that part of the bladder had to be cut out as well. It was about 3cm x 2cm x 2cm. They woke me up during the op to show me on the tv what it looked like - i'd say it looked like tripe if you've ever had the misfortune of seeing or eating that. You have a morphine injection into your spine that makes you paralyzed from the tits down. All the instruments go straight up ya japs eye and they use electric current to do the cutting. The scariest thing for me i think is when i woke up i couldn't feel anything or move anything and the nurse said thats what a paraplegic feels like. Awful feeling. Closely followed by the moment i spotted a catheter the size of a power cord hanging out my knob. I spent the next day dreading how they were gunna get that thing out until the nurse came in and said take a big breath in and while i was she just yanked it out. Wow - wasn't as bad as i thought it would be but after that it was definitely morphine time.
I had to wee on my own and when i tried to pass the first urine i nearly keeled over the pain was unbelievable. My knob felt like it had been shredded and dipped in petrol and set on fire. You have to constantly drink and pass urine which is very scary after the first time i really didn't want to do it again but the doc said if i didn't pass a certain amount of urine per hour then the catheter is going back in - fuck that. The urine is just blood with chunks in it basically. First two days it was quite thick blood but then i started to get more urine - less blood. I worked out on the second day if i sit down to pee it was slightly less painful than standing up. By 3rd day i was just taking some strong painkilling tabs to pass urine and decided to man up and drink as much water as i could during the day to get it over with. Now there is just a little blood at the beginning and at the end and not too much discomfort. There is usually four operations in the first year - every three months then we see how it's going from there.
Unfortunately it has a high recurrence rate in the 80% region and a life expectancy of five years or less from first removal date. So i might just get to see the new Man Utd manager. On the good side i am young and pretty fit and Aussie:D
Worst moment - Definitely first day of peeing after catheter came out. Am dreading the next time already.
Best moment - standing naked in the shower getting washed by two lovely nurses on their knees. A great moment and the only time on my first day up i was able to have a little chuckle:D
There it is ladies and germs...

A positive mind is the key to a strong recovery Deaders. You will have your highs as well as some lows, but try and stay positive and you will come through it.
My mum was diagnosed with MS, and the docs gave her a life expectancy of 0-2 years, 25 years later she is still going strong.........ish. Keep you head in the right place and your arse is sure to follow.
