Scottish Managers In History
When fans in the Uk are polled on the great managers in the history of the British game, so many of the managers spoken of tend to be Scottish. From Jock Stein, Bill Shankly, Kenny Dalglish, George Graham, Walter Smith and Fergie right up to David Moyes.
Nicholson. Clough, Revie, Greenwood, Ramsey etc. Of course Engand produced incredible gaffers but the ones who sustained success over a lengthy period tended to be Scottish. Why? It's a funny one isn't it?The managers who led their teams to long periods of success are NEARLY all Scottish. And i'm not forgetting Wenger, Mourinho and the like. Why do the jocks make better gaffers?

 In your head . . . . . . . .
Of course hatchet buried. I've had other external issues today, not meself, was spoiling for a fight. anyway I am self effacing enough to admit when I've been a bit precious.
And however pathetic it is, despite the fact they only spent a couple wet days in Chorlton . . . . we're fucking having the Bee Gees

I remember when Fergie first "Retired" back in early part of this decade. Before he did the about turn, there were a lot of United fans mentioning George Graham as someone they fancied. He captained us for a second in the early seventies as I'm sure most of you know.Other names at the time were MOn and Hitzfeld
But by 2002, Grahams time was up really. But it was interesting to note that United fans were terrified success would disappear with Fergie and a sort of superstition descended upon the fans. I'm guessing that most united fans now would almost insist his eventual replacement is a jock.
Hence Moyes

I'd offer Burley as the exception than proves the rule that the Scottish make good managers.
.... and Dan. Great to see that your 'special friend' Sebastian allows you back on the internet or is he out cruising again?

Yeah, shame about Burley. He got Ipswich to uefa cup and. . . . . fuck all after that. He was one of those expected to go on to great things and it never happened for him. Ipswich fans probably remember him fondly though, as a player he was quality.

Burley was pretty special at Hearts, it was his team that split the Old Firm, although he'd left by the end of the season. It'd have been interesting to see exactly where they've had finished if he had been given the whole season.
He has been gash almost everywhere else though. Needs to stop bevvying by all accounts!!

Bob Shankly, Bill's brother...got the famous dundee fc to the semis of the european cup in the early 60's, only to get put out by sleekit italian tactics who probably bribed the ref as well. His side should have been the first uk side to win it, alas it was not to be, cheating italian bassas.

And lets not forget John "ma blud pressure's over the moon!" Lambie who took Partick Thistle from near relegation to the Scottish 3rd Division: the place of no return, and in succesive years promoted them from 2nd Division to 1st and from 1st to Scottish Premer League.
They don't make them like that any more.
