Seve Ballesteros dies aged 54. A very sad day for the sporting world. An icon & inspiration of European golf passes away. A great loss and one i grew up that made golf exciting for me to watch,r.i.p. to seve

I've never been interested in golf as a spectacle. I've never understood it. I grew up on a council estate and our families weren't welcome in golf clubs. I have never seen it as a sport. If golf is a sport, then so is darts.

However, my old man and my grandad would watch the majors on the bbc, because of this guy Seve. They loved him. He seemed to transcend class and culture. A colleague of mine who knew him well, said he was the happiest, most charming celebrity he'd ever met. Spain is in mourning today.

I too grew up on a rough council estate and played golf in my teens, no problem with the snotty clubs in the South lol. Mind you I had to wear my school uniform as it was the only smart trousers I had.Seve got me interested and excited about golf. Due to him I got my first set of clubs from the car boot and if it wasn't for my back I would still be playing now. He was a great character and sportsman and inspiration for a lot of people.R.I.P Seve.

One of the few sportsmen you never heard a bad word about, just heard Phil Mickelson going on about him-all his rivals seemed to love him too. RIP

Could afford golf clubs and green fees? It must have been tough.

RIP Seve. Top man, and always had a wink for the ladies in the crowd. A ray of sunshine in the world of golf.
