Personality of the year 2010
Just out of Interest, as we approach the end of the calendar year. Who is your football personality of the year for 2010?
If you wouldn´t mind, I´d enjoy reading them. Add a brief reason if possible.
I´ll go ahead then.
My personality of the year is Harry Redknapp. Since the turn of the year Spurs have been brilliant. Qualifying for the champs league for the first time and then blowing us all away with their attitude in the group stages. I have loved watching their Kamikaze approach. And I tell you what . . . It´s knockout now, and stranger things have happened than Spurs going on to the final or even winning it.
So Harry Redknapp for me. He also has always come across very personable throughout his career.
. . . . obviously you don´t have to choose a different name. We can do a tally and see who comes first.

If it's 'personality' we're looking for then I would agree that 'Appy 'Arry is a good choice! However, I'm gonna go for Ian Holloway, the Blackpool manager. I've loved his outbursts this year, he is a character in the true sense of the word.

Ian Holloway for me. he plays to the cameras a bit in press conferences, but he's a breath of fresh air and very funny.

which is whats wrong with the game. You are right mfc, noone will trust him. It´s a shame really as he is great. A genuine eccentric and high on life. If I was a Blackpool fan I´d love him. He´ll do for me chuck.

Hopefully he will stay off the juice though mfc . . . . .
I am delighted for him that his team has had a great season so far. However I shall contradict myself by suggesting that Blackpool are thrown out of the league for having an unplayable surface in the winter!!!!!!
I´m still annoyed that their game v man utd was called off three weeks ago was it?
I´m just a big baby. . . . . . . . .

fair enough,
as i said, it was purely selfish. We are all the same on here, we work in the week and look forward to seeing our team at weekend. I get stroppy when anything interferes with that!
Anyway back on message, who do you think should be the football personality of the year 2010? Burds and mfc say holloway, begs says John Terry (he´s kidding) and I say Redknapp. Harry that is!!. which means it is 2 for holloway and two for redknapp!! Begs would really say Redknapp?
Someone said to me today that it should be Iniesta as he scored the winning goal in the world cup final, something you do not get to do very often in life!!!!!!!!!!

Never got the idea of giving personality awards to people who have made a sporting achievement, like giving the BBC SPOTY award to McCoy. I can't really say that his personality would have inspired millions of people to take up jockeying or even to watch the sport, its only because he finally won the National that he got it. But for me Ian Holloway has been a breath of fresh air to the premier league both with his personality and his achievement with Blackpool and has often spoken his mind to the agreement of many of the fans, ie FIFA, Blatter and Platini.

"Personality" has got to be Holloway. "Achiever" would be 'Appy 'Arry with Holloway a close second. Getting Blackpool into the Premiership ffs.

By that token, I've just changed my mind. I'll vote for Howard Webb.
I met him on holiday in Turkey this summer, he was staying in the same hotel with his family after the World Cup... what a great bloke! He was wonderful with my 10 year old daughter, who is football mad like me. Gave her a great personal signed message and posed for photo's with her (in her Spanish 'Iniesta' shirt). It was the first 'famous person' she'd met, and I can't think of anyone I'd rather her have met first... it made her holiday... (and my missus' ).
So there it is..... Howard Webb for me.... the last Englishman in a World Cup Final.... possibly for evermore...
