In basic terms, it means that a website has a video stream showing on its pages. It is a lot more complicated than that but until you've seen a few, it is difficult to explain.
For example, this is an embedded stream.

Thanks. Think I understand that now. When I open your link I am told that I am missing the iLivid plugin for faster download. I downloaded the latter but all I get is music and speech and very faint images in the white background. I have Win. 7 Home Premium.
Ok, it works now. I have been viewing the Rangers game and comparing. free-footie 8, Sports for free 6 and your link 8½

I don't like the sounds of that iLivid plugin. I don't have it and everything works all right. I would remove it.

I have removed iLivid plugin.
I downloaded SopCast. How does that help me? I cannot work out if it is a stand alone programme like yours or whether it merely assists your presentation?

open live streams & feed back go done to satanta canada & click on sopcast link. Sopcast will open if sop://broker.sopcast.com:3912/122909 appears in address bar & it does not open click blue arrow on right & it will open. If not in address bar copy/paste to address bar & click blue arrow. Its playing at the moment.

How to use Sopcast guide here. A couple of things are out of date but it is still over 95% relevant.
I think that you misunderstand what we do. We do not stream any event. We merely collate information on streamers who intend to stream the various matches.
There are basically 2 types of streams:
Browser based (usually Flash or similar) where the streamer sends his stream to a platform (for example LiveV) and users connect individually to the platform. They receive all of the information required to watch that stream directly from the hosting platform. The larger the number of people watching the stream, the lower the quality gets as the platform comes under pressure to cope with demand. Factor in the fact that it is relatively easy to produce a flash stream and we end up with some poor quality ones as every Tom, Dick and Harriet jumps on the bandwagon. A lot of them don't have the required upload speed nor the 'nous' to do it properly. Having said that, there are some excellent browser streamers who are excellent at what they do.
P2P streams. This is the technology that Sopcast uses. Everybody who connects to a Sopcast stream becomes part of a virtual network. Everybody receives the information required to watch the stream from several other people on the network. In turn, you are providing information to others to watch the stream. The Sopcast software does this for you.
In general, Sopcast streams are better quality and don't get removed 'for copyright reasons' but are slightly further behind 'live' than browser streams. Everybody has their own preferences.

bazzer and manudave
Thanks a lot. Got that after some fiddling and I was very pleased because all of this is very new to me.
I viewed the match on 6½"x6" screen which was good quality and then on 20"x9½ full screen which was not so good, but pleasing. I am on my way, thanks to you.
