they are as far away from winning the prem league as they were under roy evans. Losing Maschrano and not replacing him is bad enough, but when Torres isn't playing, they don't score goals. Roy Hodgson was crazy leaving Fulham for that.

I never thought that I'd see the day that Ryan Babel was linked to Spurs. Thankfully it was just a Sky rumour.

Man city destroyed you, you were lucky to beat West Brom???

What will you do home and away agaist, Chelsea, United, Spurs, Everton? And I do believe Hodgson was nuts. He's joined the most unstable club in the division, the owners are prepared to flog the club to anyone. There is a strong possibility that he won't be given a lot of time to turn things around, unfortunately that is the way of things these days. So it's fair comment to suggest he was crazy to leave a club he'd just taken to a european final and where he had a job for life. I think he didn't finish the job at Fulham, there's no reason why they couldn't have been top four contenders.

And mate!!! You are as far away from winning it as you were under roy evans, check the stats, look at his finishes as mnager and compare it to last season. Have a nice day

we'll SE. all i can say is in three or for weeks you will be looking at completely different Liverpool team dont forget 5-6 new players came to the team and there going to need some time to settle in.
if you minus last season we had beaten man u 4 or 5 strait i think and 2008 nearly won it. yes last year was a very bad year but some good players have come, so as i sead after 10-12 rounds we'll get a good idea. relax mate.

ps you sound like you really hate Liverpool or am i wrong

ps get over it it's not healthy

Sakis, I don't hate Liverpool, or any team for that matter. I grew up watching Man Utd in the late seventies and eighties when for a time Liverpool were the best team in the world. Your team won 4 european cups in the space of 9 seasons in that period. My thread here is not to wind anyone up. I genuinely cannot believe that one of the worlds greatest clubs is signing paul konchesky and also desperately trying to buy carlton cole.

Not only that but there has been several recent unsuccesful attempts to sell the club. When a club of Liverpools stature has problems it doesn't bode well for everyone else. Who'd have thought that would ever happen? And for good fan debate we need to be honest. While Liverpool have made several signings, none of them were on the radars of any other G18 football clubs. My point being, Liverpool haven't bought world class.

My club has american owners whose long term plans for the club are unclear and make me nervous. So mate, my thread wasn't meant to be antagonistic, just a comment on the state of affairs at Man utds greatest rivals. And remember no matter what chelsea or man city do, liverpool will always be uniteds real rivalry.

yes i agree none of the new signings are world class even thou i think Cole and Raul Meireles are very good signings the rest were just average but then again you never know.
I agree that we just need to find some good owners to by and throw some decent money in the club thats been our biggest hurdle all these years.
I think we can only improve on our first three games and dont forget we had a very difficult start , Arsenal, Manchester City first to games. and Gerald and tores have just come back and not 100 pecent yet. so we'll se what happens

I agree that it's early days although I cannot say I am either a) happy or b) excited that we signed Paul 'oh I got skinned again' Konchesky.... or that we were linked with Carlton 'a bit like Heskey' Cole.

So I am relieved we didn't sign Cole. As for Konchesky, I suppose Roy is limited in who he can attract to the club and the funds he has. Still not particularly happy about it though although it's probable that we got a 'safe' full back for a season or two.

A sign of the times I feel in the players we signed and were linked with. A change has to come at the top. These two dumb fook Americans have not had a clue what they were doing from day one.

does seem and reading your 50 odd posts you have put in this last week that you do have a thing against liverpool.
you state that liverpool are uniteds biggest rivals??
not the case,if everton had gone on the run that united have had the past 20 years who would be liverpools biggest rivals then?
we are not uniteds biggest rivals, you will probably find that will be the original moss side boys now (man city for the uneducated)
as for the konchesky signing ok not the glam signing we all wish and hoped for,on the same token united have also been throwing the money around in the transfer window havent they?
like a man with no fuckin arms
liverpool and united both have the same illness at the moment lack of readies caused by a gang of yank capitalist pricks who, haveno interest in the game of football.
so there ya go waterfordruudspain thingy what ever you go by.
no offence mate

I love it when twats like you quote someones post, and then write a reply which bears no evidence that you actualy READ what that person wrote to begin with. You've certainly not read any of the other 50 posts I've made (it's about 90 actually). Because this thread is the only one in which I've discussed Liverpool and the ongoings at the club.

And don't be precious. I support Manchester United. There's no love lost between our clubs. You obviously don't know the history of your own club let alone mine. Liverpool remain the most successful club in English football history, followed closely by United.

The Liverpool United rivalry goes back to the sixties when the clubs dominated the domestic game and a cultural rivalry grew through the music as well as the footie. I suppose you've never heard of Smith, Hunt, St. John, Best, Law and Charlton? You show your ignorance with the silly suggestion that Man city could be Uniteds biggest rivals. Liverpool will always be Uniteds enemy number one and vice versa.

Now fuck off and grow up, and before you reply to anything you've read on this or any other forum, I suggest you take the time to READ it. Alright Mate?? No offence Now.

Dominated? Must be a different definition of the word 'dominate' than I know.

For the record....

Manchester United

1959-60 7th Div 1
1960-61 7th Div 1
1961-62 15th Div 1
1962-63 19th Div 1
1963-64 2nd Div 1
1964-65 1st Div 1
1965-66 4th Div 1
1966-67 1st Div 1
1967-68 2nd Div 1
1968-69 11th Div 1
1969-70 8th Div 1

Liverpool

1959-60 3rd Div 2
1960-61 3rd Div 2
1961-62 1st Div 2
1962-63 8th Div 1
1963-64 1st Div 1
1964-65 7th Div 1
1965-66 1st Div 1
1966-67 5th Div 1
1967-68 3rd Div 1
1968-69 2nd Div 1
1969-70 5th Div 1

Tottenham's record of 3rd, 1st, 3rd, 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 3rd, 7th, 6th, 11th is certainly as 'dominant' as that of Manchester United.

Following on from Beg's post:

Everton:

1959-60 16th Div 1
1960-61 5th Div 1
1961-62 4th Div 1
1962-63 1st Div 1
1963-64 3rd Div 1
1964-65 4th Div 1
1965-66 11th Div 1
1966-67 6th Div 1
1967-68 5th Div 1
1968-69 3rd Div 1
1969-70 1st Div 1

Leeds:

1959-60 21st Div 1
1960-61 16th Div 2
1961-62 19th Div 2
1962-63 5th Div 2
1963-64 1st Div 2
1964-65 2nd Div 1
1965-66 2nd Div 1
1966-67 4th Div 1
1967-68 4th Div 1
1968-69 1st Div 1
1969-70 2nd Div 1

Not to mention FA Cup winners in the 60s:

1960 - Wolves
1961 - Tottenham
1962 - Tottenham
1963 - Man Utd
1964 - West Ham
1965 - Liverpool
1966 - Everton
1967 - Tottenham
1968 - West Brom
1969 - Man City
1970 - Chelsea

And if you add European trophies (Euro Cup, Cup Winners Cup and UEFA/Fairs Cup) and League Cups ... you'll find Tottenham won the most in the 60s

That the best you can do? Fairly pathetic eh?

I was referring to the fat that they won four leagues between them 64-67 not to mention their success in Europe etc. So if they didn't dominate the entire decade, they did for a good chunk of it. None of it changes what we were discussing originally, which is that however low either of the clubs ever sunk, the rivalry wouldn't lose any of it's intensity. Liverpool haven't won the league in twenty years and yet their result is still the one most united fans look for. That will never change.
