Someone needs to set up a site in one of these:

Countries with diplomatic relations but no extradition treaty

bahhhh.... there's literally hundreds of file sharing sites around and when taken down they always seem to come back as has hotfile, rapidshare, pirate bay etc in the last few months. If you think about it for a minute or two, stopping file sharing just can't be done - it simply can't be done - no way can't do it.

Here's a search for Metallica Black album - took all of 8 seconds and i've got it for download -

I also notice today that 8 senators in the US pulled their support for the bill after getting a caning from their constituents/voters.

Seriously though. If you are making vast amounts of money out of perceived copyright breach, you are potentially on a flight to the US in handcuffs.

The US authorities' emphasis seems to be on highlighting how much income is being generated for site owners by placing ads on their sites and the funnelling of that revenue into private bank accounts or buying high-end 'company cars'.

Luckily, FSi as a community (and staff members past and present) have never earned any money from this site nor received recompense in kind. 'Thank-yous' from satisfied members and the knowledge that we provide the service for purely altruistic reasons is enough for us all to keep doing what we are doing.

There is no profit motive in FSi and we've banned streamers for offering money to feature their streams.

i had a read through the bill and future propossed bills in the usa last night
it seems if they get their way all it will take to close any site is 1 copywriten item or even a link to it
they say if they cant close the site they will blacklist it in as many countries as they can , and then they extradition and legal action against the site owners
as a few people on a dicussion forum stated if this was upheld no site would be safe even legit business sites would only need a link placed on them and that would be them

its about time the rest of the world told the US where to go and set up a www2 and stuck 2 fingers up to any extradition demands , would they be so quick if say the uk govt asked for a 18 nyear old kid in boston who had a blog with 3 copywritten beatles tracks on it say under the threat of a 20 year sentance in uk I THINK NOT

as Begbie states at the moment they are mainly interested on those who have profitied but the new proposed bills would be aimed at any site or person with any copywriten material or providing a link to such

if they want to kill the internet they are going the right way about it

a good site mega shame to see it go (for now )

in the mentime lets all enjoy the links and show that the internet belongs to the people who use it and no one else

Typical US I hate stereotyping people or in this case countries but that is the way they want it, if they can't rule the world with their military they are going to try with www.

I always used megaupload but having problems finding other files.I have tried filesonic but takes forever and i dont wanna join or register for some of the others,any advice would be be very appriecated.

Movshare is about the next best Elf then probably movreel but with this you need to go into your temp download folder to save the file.

I never registered for anything and I haven't needed a download manAger either. I click on links from qss, are you trying to search their sites?

I also use qss and that is where i get links,i also click the free user and that is what comes up

I just clicked on a bad teacher link from movreel and clicked free user-didn't need download manager-are you on firefox (don't know if it makes any difference but I am).

Yeah glenman i am also using firefox,just yried it again and it come up with divx player,then i click download and it tells me download ilivid,probabbly me being a divvy

I let it stream (hit play) then when it has buffered fully go into the folder containing the file and drag it it to the desktop.

Just a wee update,i have found that rapidshare has been the best for downloading speed for me,also just noticed quicksilverscreen has also shut down.

Try these people Elf, most of the mods from qss moved there recently (pre megaupload dying) because of internal strife.
