For the most part though it was a case of strong Everton defending....Vidic is really the only goal scorer from corners and that's with his head...Hernandez, Rooney and Owen are just too small compared to the backs. Although last nights winner was a header from Hernandez - he beat the defender on the ground rather than in the air...

The little nick off Distin's knee put the ball into Hernandez path, that wrong footed Hibbert a touch who was then easy out jumped and 9 times from 10 them chances are normally scored-good finish and still had to score it tho.

BBC2 will be debuting a film on Sunday at 9pm GMT entitled “United.” The film tells the true story of the 1950′s Manchester United side and the 1958 Munich Air Disaster in which 23 people died.

I'm really excited about tonight. Got a feeling it will be really difficult. Schalke have saved best performances for Europe this season.
My team tonight would be:
Edwin, sheasy, rio, vida, evra, carrick, giggs, park, nani, rooney and cheech.
It sounds controversial leaving Valencia out, but he has looked a bit tired last two games. This happens when you are out for ages. The first few games when you come back, you play really well because of the adrenalin and the joy of being back. But then the lengthy absence catches up with you. Also Rafael. Brilliant, I love him but, missed a few games lately. O' shea looks in top form.
so the bench would be: valencia, rafael, scholes, owen, fabio, smalling, goalie

Well after all the talk of a hard game there was only one player from Shalke that earned his bread and that was their goalie,it turned out to be a bit of a walk in the park for the Reds, and was surprised they only scored 2 if chances were put away it should have been double figures.

Thanks Elf!
We didn't need luck tonight because Schalke were awful. Nothing like the team which scored 5 in Milan. It was the strangest game I have ever seen at this stage of a big competition. Felt more like a training game. If we had been more clinical, it could have been a hammering. Anyway, giggs and carrick were excellent again. Carrick was probably man of the match (bbc pundits thought so anyway) and we only had fabio yellow carded.
Roll on Arsenal away on Sunday!!

Well deserved winners. You strolled through it and should have scored more. You should be through to the final but the job isn't done yet. An early Schalke goal at OT would make it squeaky bum time.
