Liverpool 10/11 Post Match Chat
Put your LFC chat for this season in here folks!
I thought we were OK in the first game... nothing spectacular, but looked much more solid than last season..... something to build on hopefully!

Nice one starting this up again Burdock!!
Yeah nothing spectacular with 11 men on the pitch. Don't think we even had a shot for the first half hour. Played better with 10 men as I think the goal relaxed us. Just gutted we couldn't hold on but great to see Nando back and running.
Was a bit surprised by Arsenal, I suppose they have a few players out though.

yes i think we were very good for the first 10 min of the second halve for the rest of the game we were OK. think the red card to Joe Cole [changed the hole complexion of the game] was a stupid decision, as he was going for the ball and he accidently hit the arsenal player. if that was a red card then the Walcott tackle on Maserano was 10 times a red. but over all our first game was good i think we are one top class player short in the midfield to be really competitive this year, Gerrard, Cole, Jovanovic, ????????.

Cole's sending off made the team focus in the second half to the job in hand and I thought we did well. In the first half I thought we were more concerned about not losing than actually taking the game to Arsenal, which is perhaps understandable after the disappointment of last season.
Hopefully there will be some confidence in the team now and we can take it on to Citeh at the weekend (who themselves will be under pressure to perform). I fancy us to beat them there, even without Cole.

I'm hoping that will be Aquilani. We haven't seen him have a run of games yet and he did actually set up a few goals last season. I think the press wrote him off as part of their agenda against Rafa.
With that in mind, I think with Rafa now gone, Mancini will feel the heat a lot more from the press.
I'm hoping we can catch City cold. We'll see

i think our back line is strong , Johnson, Skrtel, Carragher, Agker, Kyrgiakos, Aurelio.
Up forward strong as well, Torres, Babel, Ngog, Dirk Kuyt,
As for our midfield ,Gerrard, Joe Cole, Jovanovic, Lucas, Christian Poulsen, Aquilani, [ with Mascherano going, Lucas dont think hes good enough for Liverpool standard,] if Christian Poulsen or Aquilani can stand up then were looking good if not i think the money we get from Mascherano we should spend on getting a classy midfielder and take the pressure and free up Gerrard a bit. thats been our problem over the past. you got a strong midfield you got a good team.
ps think we will win to this weekend

hmmm...I think pool would have won against Arsenal had Cole not been sent (which was no way a red in my book) City's second half was a big improvement on their first half without really threatening the goal too much. City will start to put some winning results together in 3-4 weeks while Liverpool seemed a tighter outfit in the first round. Pool 2-1 maybe 3-1...I've just put the Deadly hex on you - City will win it now 8-0 lol

well what did you all make of tonights match ?
i have to say it was not as good a game as i had thought it would be , may be down to normal poor Turkish travelling but i thought Trabzon were way below par tonight , ok Liverpool were not at their best either
i did tell a lot of you it would be a hard tie and I am sure many expected more than 1-0 to take to Huseyin Avni Aker
a most intimidating stadium
I wish you well and hope its a good match but i tend to think 1-0 may just not be enough sorry lads

After last night what can you do other than try to be objective. A few things stood out though.
No fight, totally outnumbered in midfield, too many players below par, no substitutions until it was too late, one creative midfielder loaned out, one defensive midfielder refusing to play. I hope Roy goes for the extra midfield man in future.
If Mascherano goes, which looks likely, I cannot get my head round loaning Aquaman out. When he did play last season, he showed potential.

Quite a depressing match for me. No spark anywhere on the field and we were well beaten. We can't afford a sluggish start to the season.
I would have preferred to kept Aquilani too, Poulson wasn't bought to be creative, he was bought to replace Mascherano. This leaves us light of options once again in the middle.
We need a couple of straight forward wins.... quickly.

Good job you have a few teams you might/would expect liverpool to win in league - west brom at anfield, then your away to birmingham, then an easy away game at man utd, then back home to sunderland and blackpool -then again maybe not.

Aye, pressure on to win the next two games. Pressure we could do without at the moment.

Didn't think City were that great, we were just poor. Saying that, I think City look strong at the back this season and will be difficult to beat.

City looked stronger and fitter than us but interestingly, they weren't carving out opening after opening. I think they were especially fired up for the game, at home etc. We just got overran in the middle. I'm guessing Roy wanted to play Mascherano but then wasn't able to at the last minute which may have affected his selection.
Still, as Burdock said, pressure we could do without, 2 games no wins.
Fingers crossed folks

Hello! I am a big fan of Liverpool. I hope this year they do better and remind us of the good old times! Also I am a fan of P.A.O.K. THESSALONIKIS. The club of my heart and the biggest team in Greece. Good luck to both of them in Europa League.
