Aye, we'd have gone straight back down if we'd gone up. Build for next season, push on and get a team that will go up automatically and stay up. Got a decent team now, couple of signings, hang onto the core and bring through the youth... Which brings me to this;

Carlisle United have handed highly-rated teenage striker Gary Madine a three-year extension to his Brunton Park contract.
The 17-year-old is understood to have attracted the interest of several top Premier League clubs, including Manchester United and Newcastle United.
"It's just speculation really. I've tried not to think about that," Madine told BBC Radio Cumbria.
"It's nice to have the security and I'm looking forward to next season."
The 6ft 4in striker, who scored 27 times for the club's youth and reserve teams last season, was rejected by Middlesbrough two years ago after an unsuccessful trial with the Teessiders before joining Carlisle. Madine made his first-team debut for the Cumbrians towards the end of last season and was quick to praise the influence of the club's youth team coach Eric Kinder for his rapid rise. "Eric has been brilliant. He's looked after me, anything I've needed to see him about his door has always been open," said Madine.
"I don't think a move to a big club at this stage of my career would be right for me. I will get more of a chance to play here and I think my career will progress better staying at Carlisle at the moment."
Madine's new contract will run until the summer of 2011.

Forest just about scraped their way up. How do you think that they'll fare next season?

I don't like Calderwood but that may be due to his dismal defending over many years.

Earnshaw will get goals in that division, big loss with Commons going to Derby though, mid table obscurity is their best bet, play offs if they have an exceptional season

Nice to see Luton plummet, it was only last season (nearly) that we won the fizzy championship at KR, now they are in league 2 (divison 4, to us oldies) with a 10 pt deduction, possibly going up a further 15 pts

I think you're both confused. Forest went up and are a championship team now.

I made reference to a lower league team in the rest of my comments, so the post still applies

Brighton same ideas as carlisle about bringing young players through, obviously cheapest way and add a few experienced players to help them along. We have two new signings defender colin hawkins who was at coventry and a winger kevin mcleod, formerly colchester, who i think is a great signing, down to our new second time around manager micky adams.I think we will stand a good chance of play offs again but have to say think leeds will run away with title this year. Will be interesting to see how leicester fare in league one as also mk dons .Think they will be hoping to hold on to paul ince who seems to have done good work there. Again think it will be a very tight league for the play offs and second spot, carlisle will do well again as will southend. I like to be not too optimistic and hope for play off place, cant wait for it all to start again.

On the eve of the real football starting, some of these new members must be lower league team supporters surely otherwise its going to be me sharky and rafimam arguing (nicely). Mind you think there is your top three, Brighton champions carlisle runner up and leeds through the play off, (yes i have been drinking). If there are any other members of other lower league teams let us know its only friendly banter. I am not expecting any answers but ........

Not very often i get to see a game at the withdean because of finances and family and work etc....... but was optimistic about going today to see us play scunthorpe. Within 4 minutes i am soaking wet in a cover less stand and we are 1 down, it not only pissed down most of the afternoon it rained goals too scunthorpes, 4-1 finish. I actually applauded the scunthorpe hatrick striker Gary Hooper when he was rested, as did most of the brighton supporters.I started the season optimistic but we played a good team and deserved what we got and think there are just as good teams if not better to play like dare i say it carlisle who did well to come back from a goal down to win, happy sharky tonight. Its going to be up and down season as always.

Life as a brighton fan gets worse cant win at home unbeaten away and today we play walsall who have two men sent off in the first half. Sent off harshly for late tackles, so we are playing nine men and they score wtf before half time, and we lose. Glad they were sent off now as god knows what we would have lost by , bloody hilarious, hope the players are more embarrased than the fans.

Not the best day but shit happens. It's not a sprint, the cream will rise to the top come the end of the season.

Never thought I'd see cream and come in the same sentence without it being dirty.

I came across a Justin stream yesterday with the password 'fuck my p2p'.

It was off-air but wish that I had taken a note of it.

Edit: just realised that I couldn't have posted it as the censor gives you a skunk or something when you don't use spaces.

Very good sharky know what you mean trouble is brighton supporters are not known for patience , any more results like that and poor old mickey adams will be out again, We tend to go through more managers than england, not as many as newcastle though thank god.Like you said long way to go never boring in league one thats for sure.

At least the shrimpers have started to win, time for a move up the table me thinks. Good result for the lads today, bit better than our last away game.
