John Terry stripped of England captaincy - again.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/16866149

Now, remembering the problems he allegedly caused and the remarks he made during the World Cup about his being "the real captain - everyone in the squad knows it ..", should England even take him to the Euro finals?

You would like to think the players would be adult enough to sit round together and clear the air, but how much damage has been done? Would the sponsors even want it?

This whole saga should have been dealt with ages ago, but with the FA allowing the courts to drag their heels it is just making it worse.

The england team is still holding onto the golden era too much, i dont think ferdinand should even be anywhere near the squad, lampard is past it, terry and gerrard you can argue still give something, but terry is an absolute ****.

Jones, smalling, wilshere, the ox are a few of the players the team should be built around.

I agree that Terry is shite. He has no pace at all and if he is taken and played he will be shown up for the over rated garbage he is.

i not only wouldnt take him i wouldnt consider him again for any international game ,he is past it ,he isnt half the player he was say 3 seasons ago and given the off the park history he has and the friction with other players means you cant even justify his inclusion for moral or pr reasons
time to look for a younger and less controversial centre half ,and surely a better role model and motivator exists than JT

It alright not taking him and agree that he is past it. Room needs to be made for the likes of Cahill etc to get some experience. But if he doesn't go you know the press will be all over the FA, saying that they are judging Terry before the court date.

I said before that it has taken too long to get this sorted, even the Saurez thing has been dealt with and we are moving on from that but this is going on forever. We could have had this out the way before the Euros but now its going to be all that is talked about before, during and after. But its good to know the press have their scapegoat before the tournament has even started.

ZZZZ about John Terry (Not the thread - him) when they stripped him of it before they should never have given it back to him.

I listened to 5 live and they were going on about it endlessly. ZZZZZ He's no good now anyway. I agree with somebody Ferdinand should not be near the England team. We seem to live in a time when nobody wants to hurt anyone's feelings.ZZZZ

whats more important though
having a good squad atmosphere and effective players or keeping the press happy
lets face it unless England win or go out to a pen shootout or a repeat of a "hand of god " incident the manager and at least 1 player are going to get slaughtered by the tabloids
better in my mind to make a statement to excisting and future international players that not only does their performance over the 90 mins and training matter but how as representatives of their country their overall conduct could affect their position in the squad let alone their role as captain
im only an outsider looking in but i think there is a touch of giving too many players one more last tournament about England , surely there are good younfer players who are capable of performing as well as several of the players whom we all know will already be on the starting 11 sheet , not for any other reason than they are "a name"
and please dont take this the wrong way its not a dig or mocking but the argument of their there for their experience , what experience ? going out with a whimper
the last world cup for example should have proved the point
look at Germany they still went out but had a young side they will have gained more knowledge and progressed more as a side than England will have from that tournament which can only make things harder for England in the euros and future tournaments
time to ditch JT and one or two others

I really can't understand how he still gets picked, never mind is the captain. He looked well out of his depth in the last world cup TWO YEARS AGO!

Terry, Ferdinand, Lampard, Walcott and Gerrard shouldn't really be first teamers. There is a good crop of youngsters coming through so I would be tempted to throw them in, sometimes putting them in the deep end is the best thing.

But you can't help but think the FA is making it worse by dragging it on. You would like to think that Terry would look at the situation and say the best way the team would move on and prepare for the Euros is for him to take no part in it, but then when you look at the history of Terry he tends to put himself first.

Wayne Rooney as England captain?! Now there's a striped captaincy wating to happen...

Not to mention the rest of the team playing without a captain, after he's been sent off yet again, and again, and again...

Yeah not my first choice, he hasn't got the best reputation for leading by example. More like running around like a petulant child whilst slagging off the fans.
