How to deal with someone stealing food?

I live in the university dormitory. In the beginning of term I left a cake in the fridge and the next day I discovered it had been stolen. Recently, the thieving has intensified. Only last week someone stole my food three times. Some other students have had it even worse. Pizza, fruits, desserts, yoghurt and eggs have vanished from our fridge. What’s more, a cettle and a frying pan have also been stolen from the kitchen. Some senior students said it was the same thing a year ago, and they had no idea whether it was someone from the school or an outsider. This gets everyone annoyed to the max and the atmosphere between students is tense. Can anyone suggest anything that could be done?

I bought a coke can spy camera from lightinthebox.com and put that in the fridge!

It looks good, isn't it?

Bake a cake (or something) and fill it with laxatives. You should be able to tell who the thief is if it's someone around you and if it's someone outside maybe they'll not steal your food again

Very difficult situation. Padlock the fridge ..or stock tinned food etc. My kids had the same problem. Cant you rig up a webcam? Have known this before even though the police frown on that sort of thing! But its enough to nail someone.

a real bastard that. Only thing to do is buy fresh from shops after lectures and eat on the day. It�s a nuisance but Uni�s are a haven for thieving bastards. We�ve all been there.

I had 6 beers stolen from our fridge when I was at Uni. Fair to say I wasn't happy. Never found who it was. Twats.

After drinking a lot of beer on Saturday night, all the remaining beer had disappeared from my fridge in the morning. I can't remember who drunk it. Must have been the cats.
