Homepage changes to adultfriendfinder
Hey guys, without being logged into FSi, it immediately directed me to adultfriendfinder, not amused, our lass might think i'm up to no good while she's out at work.

Not sure if anyone else is having this problem but it might be just some hijacking what nots on the PC of mine. Just thought I would mention it anyway.

I'ts pretty much on the cards that you have a virus/malaware problem and need to scan your compy with your anti spyware/anti virus software asap, before the good lady finds out,I can assure you that you would not be redirected from loging on to Good O'l FSI....

Well i did a scan and got rid of the pesky cookie inflicting this problem, also, just started using the chrome browser so hopefully that will help too.

Loving the new browser BTW, i strongly suggest anyone not using it to give it a try, it's amazingly resourceful.

Ohhh how funny! I thought Lee meant there have been changes to the home page of adultfriendfinder! And I'm thinking but he'll make plenty of adult friends on here so why go to another site?? But pleased to see you've got the problem sorted out. I've had my browser hijacked before when I've tried to get to FSI's homepage.

Good to see that you have got it sorted out Lee. We go out of our way to avoid people having to view sites with ads. Any links posted to pay-sites are deleted as soon as we find them. We would definitely take the site down, if we found that we were automatically linking to a pay-site, until the problem was fixed.

To fully get rid of the type of browser-hijacker that you mention often requires turning off system_restore on your PC, running your anti-virus software, then turning system_restore back on, otherwise it may just load again next time you re-start your PC.

I had that problem with system restore. But i could never seem to get rid of it, haven't turned it back on since... Maybe i should.

http://www.malwarebytes.org/ Heard some good things about this software, dunno how useful its is cos i haven't used it, but its about the only one that can clean up Vista Anti-Virus malware and all those.

And as always, dont use Internet Explorer. Firefox has never let me down with things like that, with Adblock plus i rarely see adverts on websites.

Interesting point Begbie. I've not actually done that before (turning system restore off) but something to think about should it happen again when I can't get rid of the damn thing. And maybe I need to let FSI know next time it happens. It was actually to another football streaming site that I got taken to - NOT an adult friend finder site (damn!!)

I'd advise you to get System Restore back on Rev. When searching for links or new streams, you can end up on some dodgy sites.

System Restore can save you a bit of head-ache at times.

Well, i cleaned it up with Panda Security and installed the Chrome Browser, entered the site a few times since then without having to turn off system restore and it seems to be working like clockwork. Thanks for keeping up to date though, well appreciated.

There probably haven't been any hi-jackers written for Chrome yet. It hasn't been out long enough for people to find weaknesses, so is probably the safest browser at present.

The problem that you were having with the re-directs was probably a program only affecting the browser that you were using previously.

Yeah, i checked and it was back on. I think automatic updates put it back on, or i did and dont remember. I have two HDD so i have all sensitive data backed up, and my other HDD acts only to hold the 10 or so programs i actually use. I often format, so if i was to pick up something evil i have no issue in formatting. Just eats away the best part of an entire day

I got my free version of Panda Security about a week ago. Works like a charm and definitely the best security out there, I like it mainly because it doesn't hog up the PC resources when it's running, it's only flaw though, it doesn't like torrent clients, ah well, I can live with that.

From what I gathered during his short but insightful rant he was unemployed and unemployable and his main role in life was to talk to strangers. Which, I suppose, is pretty courageous; he's trying to make people talk to one and other but sacrificing people's opinion of him.
