FFS. FIFA have other stuff to sort out without messing about with a system that (in the main) works.
Edit: From reading the article again, it seems that Blatter is more concerned about the group games and teams playing 'not to lose'. The Reuters writer, although mentioning this, appears to have missed this as the main point. Just my opinion.

"To prevent this, we could go directly to a penalty shootout at full time, or reintroduce the golden goal rule. We'll see what emerges from the committee meetings."

I remember some FIFA official touting the idea of each team taking off a player every few minutes, creating more space on the pitch. Not saying I agree with that, but it sure would be funny Mr!
Players are petulant enough as it is. Can you imagine the tantrums?

Imagine how much that would break up the game. Substitutions are bad enough but at least there's a limit on them.
Must admit. Back to the playground where the keeper was also the defense would be funny.

just do a crossbar challenge from the halfway line , much more entertaining than extra time and pens put together , if it gets to 5-5 the rest do it blindfolded

Dress them all up in giant "It's a Knockout" type costumes and make them carry buckets of red water over a revolving obstacle course. First team to fill their tank wins. The losers get gunged.

Maybe FIFA should stop trying to create the "perfect" ball that causes shots to go ballooning into the stratosphere and thus forcing players to actually shoot less and wait for the perfect opportunity to walk the ball into the net.

I agree with you there. A new ball for every tourney is a marketing ploy. Let the players play with what they know. The World Cup ball was a disgrace although I reckon that a few players used that as an excuse.

The worst thing is most of these decisions and designs of the ball and change in the game in general, are made by people who never actually played the game professionally - or indeed a few didn't even play in amateur leagues. It's one reason I respect the job Platini is doing/trying to do, as at least he knows what a footballer might actually feel/think about decisions being proposed or made ... unlike people like Blatter.
p.s. what are you doing up at 2:30am? lol

I'm relaxing. Why not have a relax at 7:30pm yourself? Eat your noodles and kip on the futon.
