Fed up with the adverts on the browser sites?
I hate the adverts that appear when I click on a lot of browser links. Luckily, Fishtoast (and others) have drawn our attention to how to avoid them. For those that have missed Fish's posts:

1. Download and install Firefox. It's free and open-source.

2. Set Firefox as your default internet browser instead of Internet Explorer.

3. Install Adblock Plus. It's free. I select Fanboy's list during installation.

4. Most ads won't appear. You often get a message on-screen saying that 'This ad will close in x seconds'. Click the wee red 'x' beside the message and it will go away. Many intrusive ads will not appear at all.

Been using these for years lol - i find adsweep in conjunction with fanboy's list and Privoxy works perfect for Opera. All free and easy to set up.

Here's a page for you all with solutions for every browser - http://www.adblocklist.com/

Click 'Allow'.

Edit: The download is from Mozilla's own site. They release Firefox. https://addons.mozilla.org/downloads/latest/1865/adblock_plus-1.2.2.xpi?src=external-abp.o-en-installation

"quero Adblocker" For Ie 8+9
in germany IE 9 won a competion in "computerbild" as best browser in 2011. for this most compatible browser for watching online tv i found a great tested adblocker against ads on websites and screens. its a toolbar named "quero". Its a open source concept. no costs no fees!

download the free toolbar : http://www.quero.at/index.php , and after that download the "adblock ie 9 tpl" (tracking protection list). the tpl will automatically integrate in your IE 9 browser.

please read the info on the website. its very easy to install and highly recommend for all who are using ie 8 or ie 9 and be sick from ads on websites. also on that website are some more tips how to use IE.

i have it on my pc too and i can say most of the ads on flash screens disappeared and websites load faster. moreover, the toolbar is guaranteerd without ads, viruses or any adaware. scoretv can recommend it as a alternative to "adblock" on fire fox. its a big upgrade in comparsion to browsers without adblocker!

rating 8/10 points.

Threads merged.

I use Firefox and Adblock Plus. It does the job without having to install a toolbar.

Computerbild are talking sh1te if they think IE is the best browser. Most others are better and safer.

firefox & co have the big disadvantage not to be so compatible for watching online tv. i mean especially for p2p-software like sopcast.
the new ie 9 is definatly better than firefox & co through official tests by "computerbild". nr. 1 magazine for pc in germany. i couldnt believe that too, but i like the new ie 9 aswell

is clear that everybody has another opinion about browsers... the year long discussion , lol

Load of crap. Why the fuck do they have all that shite on it. Oh, that's right to make money off the streams I thought the whole ethos of this site was not to make money off streams. Not that that they are trying but ut looks like other are.

There is a Firefox plugin to 'switch rendering engines' and change your page to IE so you can watch 'IE only streams' in Firefox.

That is for official Sky Sports streams. If you pay money for Sky satellite you get a free internet login to their official stream.

Big companies. Both suffer from piracy.

[sub]FSi does not condone piracy in any form. Aaaargh! We do not (and can not) check the legitimacy of any stream. Likewise, we do not check if Sky Sports, Fox Soccer etc have the required rights to broadcast a given sporting event.[/sub]
