Grant is turning them around now and getting some good results - like he said they're only 2 points off 14th spot...I think Grant's a good manager...

Thanks Deadly,
I'm not going nuts then. What a fucked up league/sport this has become. And what about the LMA? O Neill is a scab! Accepting a job before Grant has been summarily dismissed.
what a prick, I've never liked O Neill Too sweet to be wholesome.

It defies logic cap'n! Is it me or does Grant seem to get a rough deal?

I personally feel the west ham job is not a big enough club for mon,if i was him i would hold out for the liverpool job.He deserves a top 4 or 5 club. One of the best managers in british football in my opinion

Agreed, I'd love to see what he could do with one of the 'big clubs'.

I know you regrd him Elf,
I'm not tryin to annoy anyone who likes him or supports him, but this is shocking. It sems to me, however talented he is, he's not a nice guy.
maybe I am an ideallist. Maybe it doesn't matter what a guy is like so long as he wins.
yet I feel for Grant. Having to turn up there today . . .
all bets are off as far as the game is concerned. Arsenal to win by a cricket score.

Lets face it ruud,if mon takes this job i dont think west ham will go down where as if grant stays if i think they will go down, never really rated grant as good manager anyway. If i was a west ham fan my priority would be staying in the premier league.

recent results suggest otherwise elf.
Grant was remaining calm, stoic even, and had been getting better results.
matters not now though, he's gone and the messiah is in . . . . . lets see what happens

..i disagree mate - leave him be and a few new players in and he'll get them out. They were 15th a week or so ago - another win the following week would have seen them to 12th or something. It's not as bad as it looks cause all the other teams around them are going badly as well. I mean 3 wins in a row is not unheard of and that would put them near 8th other results pending of course...

If you are a West ham fan wouldn't you want this sorted out before the game today, it's crazy. Feel for grant he does seem to get a bad treatment in any management job he gets. They never seem to get enough time anywhere in the leagues these days. Every team has a bad run, from what I saw during the week they look to have been playing better.

I dont think you can really blame, O'Neill, West Ham approached him and probably said we are going to sack Grant on (such and such a date) we want you to be our next manager, if it wasnt O'neill it'd be someone else, Grant was going to be sacked anyway, its not as if O'Neill has lost Grant his job.
As for Grant himself, i think Zola was a better manager, got the best out of the players, but under Grant seems as if only Parker is playing well, plus i dislike his over reliance on piqiuonne (sp?) instead of Cole who has come off the bench numerous times to save matches.
O'Neill did the same with Aston Villa who were fighting relegation and got them to 6th place finish three times in a row, and his ability wasnt backed, he is the person i feel sorry for, Grant has got west ham rooted to the bottom of the table for much of the season, as much as you say about the new owners they have goals and ambitions, and i'm sure the fans do aswell, and i doubt them goals are sitting at the bottom of the table for most of the season.

I still think Ruud's right on what he was saying about O'Neill accepting the job before Grant was sacked. It doesn't matter to me whether West Ham told him they were gonna sack Grant anyway, he should have just said 'come back and see me when you've sorted it and then we might have something to discuss' or something along those lines. Just my opinion, that's why I'm not a millionaire though, not ruthless enough lol!

Totally agree with you ruud, what a fickle world club management is. Grant wasnt doing too bad, had west hams fortunes turning round and deserved to be given more time in my opinion.
Also its very unprofessional and disrespectful to grant to announce that martin o'neill is going to replace him while hes still there.

Just a thought, but I don't think clubs should be allowed to sack managers during the season, or at least they should follow the player transfer timetable. If you choose a manager and he turns out to be sh**, tough, just get on with it until the summer.

Good idea snappie, it would force eager board members and directors too be more patient and not too favour implementing the alan sugar catchphrase.
Also clubs should not be allowed to hire more than two managers a season, just like a player cant move too more than two clubs in a season.

Agree with the above 2 posts, that really should be brought into effect.

Agree with having transfer window for managers but only trouble is with certain number, is if they walk.It makes sense though.
EDIT: Just re read my comment "It makes sense though." which means they will never do it.

Snappies idea is excellent, although Jake highlighted a flaw in it. Contractually, It could be made very difficult for a manager to leave without a good reason. But it would be a legal minefield. I'm still pissed off with all of it. I'll be even more pissed off when Fergie leaves and my club starts the same madness of sacking a guy after 6 months.
