Turns out it was a Edwardian Mutascope, obvious when you know it! I kept looking at the light that was shining in too and also noticed the slit (eyepiece) on the left but just didn't put it all together.
An Edwardian Mutascope is one of things where you look through an eyepiece and lots of photographs turn around inside to show a film, basically moving pictures, you know what I mean.

would never have got that,i was thinking it was somthing to do with cheese or an air filter for a 1979 ford fiesta,in fact i still think it is  |
