I am obviously thick as fuck as you so eloquently put it as i don't see any advantage in forcing people to post in the feedback thread.
The last few times i've been in the chatroom there isn't much activity anyway and with brief activity in the feedback thread I don't think closing the chatroom will make much difference.

guys can we try and keep it non personnel please
we all have the same thing at heart the well being of the site and taking it forward
or back to how it was perhaps more appropriate
we all have different views and opinions
each is valid and respected (or should be)
the fact so much has been posted on this shows it does require discussion
but lets keep it as should be eh (civil and friendly)

Erm accie, he is thick as fuck. You can't force anyone into anything regarding message boards. But I believe for the good and overall health of this site the chatroom should be the third place we visit for information on working links, 1st Static page, 2nd Feedback, then lastly chatroom (if the site is struggling). Not only will this revive the forum, but it may encourage casual users to post more.

see i dont even like the static page for same reason
i know it was set up when traffic was too much for that heap of swiss s**t we were using once upon a time of a server
almost same idea as chat was set up for
so i would swap that order from 1 2 3 to 2 1 3

I think people should have the freedom to do what they want. If they want to use the chatroom primarily then let them do it.
People are more than capable of using the forum, they just choose not to.

If that's the case then that needs looking at. As you, begs, most that have posted in this thread and all the current mods/linkfinders should know the priority has always been with links updates...

if they choose not too its a sad day for us
we need to make the place somewhere they want to not only visit but participate in again
this was the busiest streaming forum on the web (have saw figures) we need to try and get it back to that or as close as we can again
we owe it to all our members especially those who have stood by us over the long years

Because they don't get a reply because every fucker is in a chat room held elsewhere.

Yes i can see the benefit of having a busy forum. But you cant make a forum busy. People either choose to use it or choose not to. That's what a forum is and its well out of anyone's control as to how successful it is.
You've moaned enough about how rubbish My-P2P is yet there are loads of people on there. Why? Who knows, they just are.
Shutting the chatroom wont make those people use the feedback thread by default. How many people were in the chatroom today?

hate to say it but reason our dutch friends site is so busy is simple
no chatroom links to most leagues using a variety of players and gives each new member a free pair of cloggs and each poster a tulip
still a s**t hole though new design or not
one thing you dont get there is the friendly banter between members they wouldnt have it have you saw how streamers are spoke too as well bloody cheek at times

i must admit this has ben a very interesting thread, the debate is fierce with both sides making good points
i personally use the chatroom and enjoy it, i usually go on it while i'm watching a game because you normally have a nice bit of banter there, but in my opinion i believe that the site must come first, it is imperative that we try and encourage people to join in the forums rather than just popping in and out of the chatroom when they need a link, i agree with the suggestion that we should only post links to games on the forum, if any wants a link on the chatroom they should be directed to either the front page or the feedback thread, i believe that this would be the best way forward for the site, if anyone couldn't be arsed to go to the site then fook them the lazy sods, i believe that every one that puts in an effort on this site would want the site to be strong and not end up being replaced by a chatroom, any way thats my tuppence worth,

i agree Berbs not as if we getting rammed and crashing server every time a game on
Admin types could come out there coffins (some say they know 2 things about ducks both wrong) and check the numbers for us to see if forum could handle the hits from front page ok

What a crap idea.
99% of people who visit the site only look at the front page (I think, if I remember right it's about 1.2million per hour, when the site is busiest) and don't visit the forum. If a few of those are stealing links it's unfair to punish the rest. If anything I think sign ups should be discouraged unless people want to chat on the forum, and they should be given the choice.
Not really what the thread is about; it's about whether the regular users should be using the forum over the chat room? Use the chatroom as a back up. Two pages on the feedback thread this weekend...it used to be in double figures. If you took every entry out of the chatroom and put it on the forum it would be about that ...but may also get people digging around the other threads and posting opinion, as used to happen.
As I said, I think we all have a responsibility to get this forum busy again.
