Change the Play Off Rules

I think that only the 4th and 5th teams should play a one off game for the play off place, not 6th and 7th as well. Stevenage who have been promoted via the play off actually finished 10 points from 4th place who were Shrewsbury. How can it be fair that a team that were 10 points of the first play of spot (and also won 4 games less) gets promoted? It's ridiculous really. Or maybe change the rules so that to qualify for a play off spot you have to be within so many points of he first play off team. Not only that, Stevenage may be the form team come play off time or have less injuries as the team that originally beat them by 10 points. If I was Shrewsbury i'd feel hard done by. They were even 6 points ahead of the 5th placed team! Ridiculous. Huddersfield the same, they were 8 points ahead of Peterbrough at the end of the season, just not fair.The playoffs have never been a good idea as far as i'm concerned, they just seem like an end of the season money spinner to me.

For me the play offs have always been about generating finances and are nothing to do with football!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like the play off even if some could say they are unfair in the sense that the 6th placed team has gone auto up,they make the season better and eveyone knows the rules before they start the season

I agree that it is about generating finances but mainly through the higher gate receipts that clubs receive whilst they are still in with a chance of going up.

It keeps a lot more interest in the leagues than there used to be before the play-offs were introduced.

Remember. Not so long ago it was only 2 teams got promoted or relegated, so in a way, the 3rd promotion spot is a bonus.

I like the play-offs. The last 10 games of the season if you're mid table would be dull without them.

Agreed. It keeps things interesting for about half the teams in each league.

As an experiment, I'd like to see the ~~Thursday Cup~~ Europa League places decided by a similar system.

Actually, it wasn't that long ago that there was no play offs and it was top three up top three down so the play offs are a bonus. I'm all for a play off but think it should be just between the nearest two, not four.

Nah. Makes the season interesting. We could have made the play offs with 2 or 3 games to go. Ended up finishing about 12th.

Excellent idea to keep the leagues competitive.
