By The End Of 2011 . . . . . . ?
What changes/improvements in our game would you like to see by the end of the year??

I have to say, video technology (old chestnut). Why are we so far behind the other sports on this? Even though my team would be hardest hit by video technology and we would!! It has to happen.I know some people say the decisions even themselves out over the season, but it is more even for the top four clubs. Especially when they play at home.

So by the end of the year, I'd like to see committment from Uefa/Fifa that it would be experimented with, maybe in a youth tournament

The only thing i would ever have and the only change to football i would use 100 % is Goal line camera's,i would not have these rubbish extra people behind goal as its been proved they are useless in some games having missed pens that were certain-would not have the extra ref in each half thing they have muted over the years either and so on.

Ball to be inside the line for corners...

Man nearest ball when it goes out for a throw has to take it and linesman stands so there's no encroachment half way down the pitch...can't abide all this "I'll take it...no I won't, here you take it" nonsense!!

I was watching a game from South America and the ref/linesmen had a can of spray paint and immediately made a mark where the kick/throw had to be taken from.

Fourth/fifth official plonked in front of a screen for penalty/sending off decisions.

now you mention that can of spray,i remember a game a few years ago to [could have been south africa dont know] were they used spray on the ground when a free kick was taking etc so the players couldnt cheat -moving the ball forward etc when the ref turned the other way,but they only have 20seconds before it wore of the ground

I'd make anybody who officiates in a Spurs/United game wear a red nose so that we can all easily identify the clowns.

the 4th or 5th official sitting in front of tv near the pitch is a good idea. He could have a microphone and talk directly with the ref.

That way if the ref gives a pen, and the player is readying himself/herself! to take it. He could let te ref know straight away if it wasn't a pen.

Likewise he/she could say to the ref, "you missed a stone wall penalty there", and the ref could stop play and go back.

It makes too much sense though doesn't it? for the clowns that run the game.

i tend to agree so any changes wont matter as they wont come into effect till 2012 and by that time we will have to abide by ET,s rules of the game thats if they dont kill us all first .

I would like to see the refs do more about all the shoving and pushing at corners, free kicks. Need to dish out cards and if needs be penalties, it's crazy what some get away with.
Also like to see the hounding of the ref to be sorted. Has got better but still goes on so much, should be maybe just the captain to have a word and that's it.More like the respect refs get in rugby, cricket,( except from ponting lol.)They don't take any ****.

Two things I would like to change:-

1: Bring back the old offside rule (If your in a offside position for any reason then your offside)

2: To use video replys to see if the ball crossed the line.

all of your wish lists for changes are ones I agree with. Problem is, it just makes too much sense as I said. Rugby, Cricket et al, move onwards and embrace technology, while the mummies that run our game continue to say stupid things like its part of the fun of the game, the uncertainty and the drama. Tell that to Martin O Neill whose villa side were robbed in last seasons carling cup final. Vidic should have been sent off as last man early in game and wasn't. It obviously affected the outcome.

We as United fans might laugh, but we don't when it happens to us. I was at old trafford the night that Porto knocked us out of the champs league. (they went on to win it) Paul Scholes had a goal disallowed for offside, when a porto defender was standing on the goal line. That would almost certainly have put us through.

Caroline and I were also there the night Roy Carroll dropped the ball three feet behind his goal line (spurs) and it wasn't seen.

So it's funny when it goes for you, but it can be devastating when it doesn't. Get the video ref in and clear it u once and for all.

And kept mourhino out of English football. He definately wasn't off side.

Aye snaps

he may not have gotten the chelsea job! But I'm not complaining about any of that. United get FAR more going for them than against them. In fact we'd be better off if things stayed the way they are.

But it's wrong. Sheffield United were relegated because a referee hadn't the balls to give them a penalty in the dying seconds against us three years ago. There was never a more stone wall penalty than that. I couldn't possibly object to a video ref stopping play and saying it's a pen.

However unfair the game is in terms of who has the money, bringing in the video ref would go some way to redressing the balance.

If there was a video ref at the hawthorns the other day, it's a possibility we would have dropped points. Possibly all three.

I don't like the idea that all decisions are questioned using video. Somethings need to be left to the gods.

I will agree with the fact the ref's need to be of a higher standard than they currently are. Perhaps they should be ex players?

If we did that,i can see a game lasting about 4 days the way they cant make their mind up-would never use video to question all decisons not even pen decisions, just goal line camera is needed for me as said-dont think ex players would make a difference, just because they are ex players will not mean they are better to judge been a ref to me in the same way that they said making refs full time were suppose to make them better, can live with mistake's they make even tho it might cost you points, games whatever, drive you mad etc, thats what the game is about for me.
