Big, Big, Big Day!
What a day it is for ex-pats in Spain. There is a real feeling that we cannot lose here!! We all want to see England win the bid today, however if they didn't and it was Spain/Portugal, it wouldn't be bad either. I would love England to win it, because IF they did, you would see everything given by the Scots, Welsh and the two Irelands to qualify. Even if we didn't, Irish men/women would invade England to partake in the drunkenness and merriment of such a festival.
Can't wait for the news

The bids are on the BBC website at the moment, been watching a bit of the Spain/Portugal pitches earlier. Apparently the winning bidder will be announced around 16:00 UK time.

The Spanish media are not confident about getting it. They reckon England have the edge. Spain of course hosted in 82. England hosted in 66 as we know. Since then German have hosted twice, as have the mexicans. So Kubs, it may come down to Russia, England. Fuck the Russians, lets have it back in Blighty!!

I can quite honestly say that I couldn't give two monkeys if we got it or not. The press would be going mental saying that this would be the best chance to win it and the pressure around everyone would be too high, you will hear nothing but 1966 on the run up to the World Cup and it will just annoy the fuck out of me.
One thing is for sure, if England don't get it at least they have their scapegoat with the BBC and Birmingham.

I'd actually like England to get it, but i think that the pay off's from Russia will have won it.

Part of me wants England to get it, just for the chance to see world cup over here in my lifetime, but i couldn't stand the embarrasment. England won't have to qualify so won't have the media on about how bad we would have done in that. So they will all be hyped up saying we will win it, then 2 games in we will be in a sticky situation as usual.Tricky one.I know its 8 years but will England be any different, can't see it.
