I thought it was rubbish. Had no suspense at all.

What did you think of it? Having to read subtitles, by default, makes you concentrate harder on a film and therefore adds to the suspense i find. Which i think helped this film out immensely.
If you're a fan of spanish horror, also check out [REC] - its a fairly well made zombie flick all filmed on a camcorder. Even though that style of film making is getting overplayed, its still a better attempt than Diary of the Dead (which i thought was spectacular in missing the point it was trying to make) but it had it moments.

if you don't mind subtitles do a search for the shutter, its a thai film and its brilliant, its just been yankeefied apparently but I wouldnt bother with it, its bound to be a pile of rewritten shite,
watch the original for a proper spooky jump fest and the best ending to a movie ever.. I say its subtitled but you wont realise they are there after 5 mins..

Yeah I will, I tend to steer clear of the Yankee remakes. Prefer to get the real deal. Will get back to you on it!

Well, watched Shutter last night. Gotta admit is was probably one of the creepiest films i've seen in a very long time. Only criticism i can give it was that toward the end of the film the jumps were getting too frequent which stopped the film being enjoyable and the story was too similar to The Ring.
It baffles me as to how hollywood always get it wrong, yet lower budget foreign horror seems to have much more style and technique

Yep hollywood always seems to ruin the suspense in Japanese horrers in particular. If you every want to watch films like the ring always watch the original japanese versions.

Ok, so whats the last genuinely good Hollywood horror flick? Was trying to think earlier and i cant think beyond remakes. I thought of Hostel, but thats more of a slasher flick, not scary at all

May have to go back the Shining... Sixth Sense was a good film, although not really a conventional horror but it had its jumpy moments

The Shining was a quality film, Jack Nicolson really made that film scary. Maybe say the original Texas Chainsaw Masacre if you want to go that far back, but Hollywood never really make good horrers they just never seem credable enough. Idependant film makers always do a better job.

Just done some IMDB investigating. Literally nothing, where as a large number of the worst horror films on their records were created in the past 10 years. Oh well. Im not a huge horror fan anyways, easiest film to make money with along with chick flicks
