Arsenal 2010/2011
I've seen threads about other clubs, so here goes with Arsenal.

In some ways, we're not having a brilliant season. We've lost to teams we would have been expected to beat, especially at home. We didn't win and didn't deserve to. We dropped two points late against Sunderland, and allowed Spud to come back from a 2 goal deficit.

We're making hard work of qualifying for the knock out stages of the CL. Resting players against Shakhtar didn't help, but we didn't deserve to win that either. And we were dire against Braga second leg.

Personally, I think we need a goal preditor like Owen in his hay day. It's no good knocking teams for 6 then struggling to score when they defends well and makes it difficult to score.

All that said, because of Chelsea and Man u not doing too brilliantly, City, a possible threat, dropping points all over the place, we are still in a good postion in the league. We're through to the semis of a cup. We should qualilfy for the knock out stages of the CL, and the FA cup is all to play for.

We've had a bad patch, bring on the purple patch!!!

Come on Arsenal.

I think we have certainly ridden our luck this season. The fact that Chelsea and United have put in some bad results means we have kept touch in the league, if they have won the games that they should have we would be miles away. Are we good enough to win it? Honestly, I don't think so. The inevitable crumble in the last month and half of the season will do us again.

League cup, should win it really. No disrespect to Ipswich, Birmingham or the Hammers but if we can't win it with those sides left in it Wenger should start packing his bags. I think this will be a handy little trophy to win now. In the past we never really cared for it but we need to get back into the habit of winning. Winning a smaller competition rather than getting to the quarters or semis of a major one is a step in the right direction. You won't develop a winning mentality otherwise.

Yeah, I agree we need to get into winning ways. If chlsea and manu had been the teams of the previous few season, they would have been well out of sight. Like you say, we've ridden our luck a bit, nobody has been dominent though. I'm just happy that we're still in with a shout.

We need a time machine, I think Tony Adams would scare the shit out of the diddy men our team is full of and get them firing. Fabregas has been Fabregash this year too.

Lol, did you see Carew towering over our players when they shook hands last week?

Walcott on the bench again. I used to have belief in him, and he started the season well. Since his comeback from injury playing for England, he doesn't seem to have a clue. He runs into defenders or loses the ball. He did get in a couple of decent cross against Wigan midweek. I hope he can turn it around.

I think Arsene Wenger has shares in some heart insurance company. From what should have been an easy victory - IF we had taken our earlier chances, we were just hanging on in the end.

Still - We are top of the league, say we are top of the league.

The problem with us is that we tend to coast through games once we have stamped 15 minutes of dominance in a game.. The problem with that is we have shite defenders at the moment so it usually backfires on us, like what happened against the spuds and almost happened against Villa and now Fulham.

But still three points from a London derby is always good.

We played so well for the first 15 mins, its as if the players think 'We have the measure of this lot' they take their foot off the pedal and give the oppo the confidence they need to press on. Once Fulham scored, we were a different team. They dominated possession for a while.

If we can win, which we should do, but I'm taking nothing for granted, can Braga beat Shakhtar, so we can top the group? I doubt it!!

We're likely to have a tough draw if we get through.

We looked very average tonight, which worries me a bit for the next league game. We should be putting teams like that to bed early on but we really made hard work of that.

Chamakh and Van Persie look like they need to put in a few hours of training to sort out the positioning. Mind you I think Squillaci and Koscielny need to do the same.

But thats us through after a bad last 3 games and got away with it. Should be interesting who we will get in the knock outs now.

Well that was a bit of a roller-coaster, but it all worked out in the end. Wish Braga could have beaten Shaktar tho. It's all very well RVP saying - did he really believe it - that as a footballer, you want the big games. Our defence is not up to Barca or Real Madrid.

Maybe Arsene will buy a brute in January!!!

The game turned when Theo came on. He has to prove that he's worthy of a first team place. He took his goal very well. I hope that's a turning point for him. Sami, mostly brilliant again and took his goal well.

You can only beat what's in front of you, we will have to up our game if it is Barca or Real, but we often do.

If United was on top form then I would probably agree with you but the way both teams are at the moment you just don't know how it will end up. United have been out of sorts recently but Rooney usually puts in a performance against us but then Nasri likes playing against United. Could be an interesting game but if we actually turn up to play (for a full 90 minutes) then I feel that we should be able to boss the midfield and hopefully get the result.

Our midfield are suckers to the counter-Song has forgotten his job description and teams pore through the gaping holes making our central defenders look worse than they are. I know we could win this game but we won't.

I always have belief that we can win at the start of any game. I hope they keep it tight at the back. I'd be happy with a draw to be honest.

And Harry Hotspur get off my Arsenal thread and go and buy a mug or something.
