Quality! I did the line once for an u-21 game between Waterford United and Athlone town. It was a behind closed doors friendly and they were an official short. I was really fit at the time, was 27 years old . . . . . and screwed up every single offside decision. I just could not stay level with the last defender no matter what I did!!

I very rarely, if ever, give stick to assistant refs, because it is one of the toughest jobs in sport. But that was hilarious!

I have give linesmen dogs abuse but in reality it is almost impossible in most cases to get it right as how can you be watching someone 50 yards away hit the ball and also see across the line?
