Accounting software
Calling all small business owners, I'm looking to step up from the Excel spreadsheet I currently use for keeping my books. Spending money on software is out of the question and don't really want top go the route of the pirate, especially with the plethora of open source titles now available.
So, does anyone have any experience with any of the following (or know any others?)...
http://www.gnucash.org/
http://www.turbocashuk.com/
http://www.nchsoftware.com/invoice/index.html
Thank you please.

Mike i obviously now dont use any of the above but given my financial background i would say that Turbo cash would be the best of the 3 for doing your annual/quartely accounts and V A T returns
nch software looks usefull for general invoice control
i will ask around a few friends see what they prefer to use and why
there use to be a superb op for UK it worked everything out vat /tax/commercial rates etc if i find it or even remember name i will post it mate
a wee tip though especially in early stages of self employment/business even if drawing up own accounts bite the bullet and have them checked before submission the cost of checking is a lot less than trying to rectify any mistakes or omisions and any good accountant will know/see exemptions etc you will miss or even ways of transfering income into next years accounts benefiting from allowances etc

I've spoken to a number of self-owner taxi drivers (mini-cabs in England) and there is easy money to be made for doing their accounts. Around here they are employing accountants, with their marked-up prices. There's a definite gap in the market.
