I sometimes think people like this exist so the Daily Mail can exist. What came first though? The chicken or the fat fuck?

I like the fact that our country is able to provide for people in extenuating circumstances, even if the shit-rag Daily Mail finds any angel to discredit it.

Also my back's about fucked cos it never gets a fucking rest and also I can't afford to be off anyway as have a 4 year old son and a baby daughter on the way due new years day and then you read about fucking pricks like these ****s every day. My blood's fucking boiling! Also the Boro got fucking beat again yesterday 2-0 at Barnsley Give me a minute, I'll be alright in a bit lol!

The danger is to assume that everybody on benefits is drawing in thousands and living in the lap of luxury. This is the idea taken away by many people when reading this type of story.
Many need another source of help, whether it is from savings, family, working part-time at less than the minimum age, crime or whatever, to live above subsistence levels.
This is especially true of a single person. No allowance is made in benefit for, for example, that it costs as much to heat a room for one person as it does for three.

Anyway I'm off to the docs tomorrow to tell him I kick off in public and I need free money for alcohol to make it stop lol!

I know that there are total wasters but the press never focus on the people who have to make a choice between buying a tenner's worth of electric or eating warm food for a few days.
I'm not in their situation, but I know recent school leavers who are trying to live and pay bills on about £7 a day.

Like I say it's the ones in the story I have the problem with. I sympathise with the folk busting a gut to find a job but can't cos of the state the country's in.

I agree with you about that case. No right-minded person wouldn't.
I have to ask the question, why did the Mail make a nation-wide issue of this? Was it for political reasons? Was it because their average reader is never going to be in the situation? Was it because they believe in a 'criminal class'?
Victorians, like modern-day Conservatives believed in a 'criminal class'. The Victorians transported them to Australia. When you think about it, Australia is a decent , law a-biding country, so criminality is not inherent.
Australia worked because it offered land to everybody that was willing to put in the work. The newspapers were complaining about convicts getting a chance, even back then.
